That was, in fact, the most important decision for my wedding meal, that we would have buttercream and not fondant on the cake:)
Thanks for stopping by and welcome back- I hope your luggage has found you.G in Berlinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11168975470282994167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2675319476309212487.post-52199278689996855522009-12-25T20:21:00.988-05:002009-12-25T20:21:00.988-05:00I've never had Marzipan but it doesn't loo...I've never had Marzipan but it doesn't look that great to be honest, haha.Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02491795869831026753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2675319476309212487.post-38370961116899543382009-12-24T14:23:03.539-05:002009-12-24T14:23:03.539-05:00In England they use it rolled out to cover a fruit...In England they use it rolled out to cover a fruit cake that is going to be used either as a Christmas cake or Wedding Cake. "What IS this and what do I do with it??"

Yeah, marzipan is almond paste - just ground almonds and sugar, and there are two types, the type you bake with and the type you can eat as is. That's the kind you got and the Niederegger Lübeck is a famous (and pretty expensive) brand, the king of marzipans, if you like. You're just supposed to cut pieces off and eat it. Aquired taste, though. I can only take so much of the stuff.

My husband LOVES marzipan, especially the big chocolate covered "loaves".
