Throw back Thursday

This #tbt was taken almost four years ago...
It reminds me of a Spring day!
I took this picture when we were in Amsterdam
at the famous Keukenhof Gardens

I love it!
Happy Thursday!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Joining Joyce at From This Side Of The Pond today

1. What is something you'll never forget about the age you are right now?
How close I am to the big 50 but still can say I'm in my 40's!

2. What's a household chore you've never done? How have you managed that???
Anything to do with plumbing and electrical....I am a helper....like hand me this and get that.

3. Does nature shape our personalities more than nurture? Explain? I believe it's a little of both and for some it's all one or the other.

4. Friday (February 28th) is 'Something on a Stick Day'...funny because Zoanna over atA Penchant for Pens recently sent me an idea for a question relating to this topic. What's your favorite food eaten on a stick?
Caramel Apple for sure....there was a time way back in the day like late 80's where I would have answered Hot Dog on a Stick...every time I went to the mall that was my go to eatery. Not sure if it even exist anymore!

5. Which of your five senses do you treasure most, and why?
Vision to much beauty to be seen and missed.

6. What's the best music, theatre, or sporting venue you've been to? What made it great?
I love the theatre I'm part of a theatre group we see six plays a year....so far this season War Horse has been my favorite.

7. It's the last week of the month...in five words or less bid adieu to your February.
Cold, miserable, trapped, frustrating and disappointing
bye bye February!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Joining Joyce @ From This Side Of The Pond Today!

1.What makes love last?

Trust and mutual respect!

2. The Beatles made their US debut fifty years ago this week. Are you a fan? If so, what's your favorite Beatles tune?

I like them....Favorite it's hard to pick one...how about Penny Lane or Ticket to Ride!

3. Valentine's Day-your thoughts? Do you celebrate in any way? Do anything special for the people you love? Expect anything special from the people who love you?

I try to express my love everyday so Valentines Day is really not anything special. We are making a special dinner and having some nice wine and perhaps a fancy dessert! I sent Katelyn a little package with treats! I got my hubby his favorite chocolate. I wouldn't mind my favorite chocolate and a nice note.

4. Steak or burger...you have to choose. Now that that's settled, how do you like it?

Burger- with ketchup and mustard, lettuce and little tomato on a wheat bun done medium well!

5. The Hodgepodge lands on the birthdate (February 12th) of Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States of America. Lincoln is quoted as saying, 'Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test his character give him power.'  Do you agree? Why or why not?

I don't really agree sometimes power goes to peoples head and it doesn't reflect their true character.

6. Honest Abe's image is featured on the US penny (1 cent coin) so I'm wondering...what do you do with your pennies (or your country's equivalent)?  It's been suggested the US stop making the penny, and two bills have been introduced proposing just that, but neither were approved. What say you?

I try to get rid of them as much as possible....useless coin!

7.  Do you think pop culture deserves serious study?

Sure why not!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Today it's freezing but we are lucky to not be on the East coast with this latest storm, enough is enough Mother Nature! I'm looking out my window it's -7 with wind chill -24 but the sun is shining and the sky is blue.....my thoughts and prayers are to those in the storms path...be safe and warm!

Happy Wednesday!

It's what Sophie does...

Poor Sophie has itchy skin
Right now it's so dry here and she is miserable!
She has done this for years
It cracks me up!

She gets herself to a corner
and
gives up and crashes!

Poor Itchy Roo!

From Russia with Love ♥

I'm so excited for the Olympics to start this week
I wish I knew someone going to the Olympics
I absolutely love Russian Nesting Dolls
Look at the one for the Sochi 2014 Games
She is so pretty!

This collector pin is already sold out
Sure to be a hot trade it that's what your in to!

I started collecting Nesting Dolls when we lived in Germany
Now I find them at Antique Stores or Ebay

This one is from TJMaxx not exactly Russia but I love the colors!

This one I got in a flea market in Germany
Kinda sad drab faces but authentic made in USSR on bottom.

This one I bought when we were in Holland at Keukenhof Gardens
They had a huge exhibit of From Russia with Love
Large Nesting Dolls placed in gardens throughout

Katelyn my doll!

This by far is my favorite of my collection.
Craig gave this to me before moving back to the States.
It's the story of The Bremen Town Musicians
They are gorgeous and the details are amazing

She is not really a Nesting Doll
But reminded me of one
I was told by Antique salesman
She is a Polish Egg
But she looks Russian to me....
Love her just the same!

These next three I love because I'm nuts for Blue and White things
They are so pretty
All stamped made in Russia
Bought in Antique Stores and Ebay

I think I have enough
But do I really
I'm always on the hunt for more
If they are pretty and the right color
They are mine!

This is the closest I will get to Russia
For now!
Maybe some day!

GO TEAM USA!!
