Woot,Woot it's Friday! I ♥ Friday!

I mention yesterday in 48 days, well now it's 47 days we are moving to New York. I think I should clear up when I say New York it's not New York City. We are moving to Western New York....I can hear you all say OH!!!! Not quite Buffalo but a close neighbor of Buffalo. It's really nice there, not at all what I expected. People are really friendly, their accents are different, more Fargo ND ish and less NYC ish.

Still having German lesson.....I know, I know! Why! Cause breaking up is hard to do!!! So today it's a rainy gloomy day, she comes and is sneezing and blowing her nose non stop. So I say to her "are you sick"? Logical question in my mind right! She said "sick" that is a big word, no I'm not "sick" it's just the weather at this very moment that is all, not "sick"! I'm glad we cleared that up!
It's Mother's day here also this weekend....so I ask her are you doing anything special for Mother's Day with your daughters? She looked at me like I had three heads....why would one day be different. Okay, okay I agree everyday is Mother's Day...blah,blah,blah! But come Sunday I'm QUEEN for the day! Brunch and Dinner made by someone other than me! It's my Day!

Does anyone watch GLEE? I love that show, but it's making me broke! After every episode itunes sells the songs from said show.....my teenage daughter is on a down loading rampage. She is officially not permitted to buy show tunes or any tunes....from Satin itunes! She tried the old trick they are not just for me but for all of us to enjoy! REALLY! Like I want to hear Olivia Newton John's Let get Physical !

Wishing all a nice weekend and Happy Mother's Day!

Stop by MRS. 4444's and wish her a Happy Friday today cause TODAY is Friday!

In forty eight days the movers come, packing will begin and our time here will be done. It's time to go back to America, not Utah but New York. The start of another adventure, maybe not as exciting or culturally different as here but still not home. We are all excited, but like anything when it comes to an end, you start thinking about what you will miss most about the experience.

I'm going to miss many things.....
pause,pause....more silence......crickets chirping........awkward silence....

Okay maybe it will be easier to list them.....
~Incredible experience and opportunities
~travel opportunities
~family togetherness
~unemployment
~chocolate
~beer and bratwurst
~confusion
~awkward silence
~cheap milk and juice
~ good cheap wine
~country walks and bike rides
~incredible city center and parks
~flower and veggie outdoor markets
~random naked German sites
~ice cream
~fresh bread

I will not miss
~the long hours my husband worked
~ rules, rules and more rules
~daily stares
~ not having a clue what people are saying
~not being able to read most signs, mail, food packaging etc...
~the Metric system
~Military time
~small sized food items
~expensive meat and veggies
~mystery meats
~potatoes with everything
~Quiet hours 12-3 daily
~shops being closed during quiet hours
~rainy gray days
~formal rules and etiquette

What I'm looking forward to:
~family on same or close timezone
~making friends
~driving
~understanding languages, signs, packaging
~Target
~large pack items
~2 ply soft toilet paper
~Kleenex tissues

Will I have regrets.....you bet I already do!

Fifi's finest

Paris is a favorite for so many...Fifi Flowers is the exception. She is Paris everyday, an extremely talented painter, she loves painting all things Paris. I was so excited to see her blog yesterday featuring none other than my daughter, Katelyn in Paris. She did an amazing job painting my blog header from April. I love it and am excited to purchase the original artwork for Katelyn's room. Fifi has an ETSY shop where she sells her artwork and also does commission work as well. You can find her shop HERE. Stop by and have a little taste of Paris today.

Sunday in My City-Spring ride

Happy Sunday in May!
We took a ride to Rhododendron Park in Bremen, Germany.
It started to rain as we rode to the park from our house.
I wanted to turn around, I may have whined a little.
I'm glad we went for the ride. It was so pretty.
It's a few weeks away from it's full bloom.
We had a long, tough winter so everything is behind schedule.
I hope perhaps by Mother's Day it is popping with more color.
It was pouring raining by the time we made it home.
I'm still cold!
Now you have seen mine go see Unknown Mami and others.

Sundays In My City-Hamburg

Hamburg is a one hour train ride from my city of Bremen, Germany. When my sister and nephew were here visiting, we spent the day there. It was only my second time visiting this city, I loved everything about it and wondered why I haven't visited it more.
The city is huge in comparison to Bremen, 1.8 million people verse our 500,000. Hamburg is a port city and has several canals with over 2,321 bridges crossing these canals. More bridges than any other city in the world.

First we visited St. Peter's one of the oldest in the city dates back to 1195.In 1845 it was almost completely destroyed in a fire and only a few historical artifacts remain from before the fire.

This is one artifact spared from the ashes, located on the door of the church. The nose of the loin is rub for luck and is shiner than the opposite door of the demon. To this day NO one rubs bronze door marker. (according to our lovely guide that is)

Quick visit to the Rathaus aka Town Hall, gorgeous building and courtyard.

Next stop to what remains of St. Nikolai, in ruins after air raids in WWII.
All the remains is the bell tower and foundation. Today many memorial statues call home.
My favorite is this one below.

Also this statue call "The Ordeal" by artist Edith Breckwoldt

Venice of Germany

We had lunch at a very old German restaurant called, Kramerants-Stuben 1718.
It was delish and the waitress was dress just like the menu board below.

View of the city from the tower of St. Michel

Street entertainers

Hope you enjoyed Hamburg....stop by Unknownmami and see her city and all her friends cities too.

Happy Sunday!

Play date

My husband has a play date tonight! Well at least thats what we are teasing him about. Our Canadian neighbor has invited him to the Werder Bremen Football (aka soccer) game tonight. It is his first German soccer game, he is pretty excited. Katelyn wants to help him pick out his outfit.....he is trying to play it cool but I think he wishes he had a team jersey and all the paraphernalia needed to blend in a 100% Werder! That's what they call it when you are a true fan! I think! So the hubs will be amongst the screaming fans eating bratwurst, drinking beer and coming home stinking like smoke!! I hope he has fun.....Katelyn and I are gonna braid each others hair and eat chocolate! Okay maybe NOT but we are off to cause our own trouble!

Go Bremen!!!
