Blue Door wins....

Over the weekend we painted our front door and two side doors. I wanted blue and hubby wanted anything but blue....we painted it blue with the mind set if he hated it, we would re paint it something else.

Front door....we love it...

Friday Friday...

Happy Friday!!

It's going to be gorgeous here this weekend....up to 75 degrees by Sunday!! I have lots of "honey-do's" planned for my Honey and me, and it involves little or no football!

We are going to finally paint our front door and two side doors. Right now they are a faded reddish mauve and I'd like them a navy blue....but hubby isn't on board yet with that color...so today I'm painting a big poster board navy blue to sell him on it....wish me luck. Everyone has a red door I am in a blue phase...I follow two different bloggers that have painted blue front doors this year and I love them. My front door is exactly like Ann's at On Sutton Place .
When I went to Sherman Williams to get my little sample of Navy blue the two ladies working there were totally on Hubby side trying to talk me out of it....their suggestions were yellow or a burnt orange, nope it's either Blue or Red....thanks I'll be back!
This photo is much brighter than actual door

We are extending our driveway to make room for parking Katelyn's car and so we can back out of our garage without landing on the grass or hitting Katelyn's car like my hubby has twice now. The rains finally stopped and they came and poured the concrete yesterday...it looks so nice! I have never been so excited to have concrete before....so in three weeks we can use it....I  really hope we don't run into the barrier blocking the new concrete.

I'm so proud of my daughter Katelyn so made National Honor Society. She is really excited to be a part of this group and I think it will be a really good asset for her college applications. But with that comes more community service hours.....so far she has 53 hours needed to be done between different clubs and NY state requirements. She needs to get busy....

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

I ♥ Katelyn

Here is Katelyn's Homecoming shot....it was this last weekend. I wish I had taken more pictures, I love her dress not too fancy, not skin tight, or too short. She did her own undo by following a tutorial on YouTube. She went with friends, took pictures for yearbook, did some dancing and went to an after party. She said she had fun....and that is the extent of a 17year's conversation.
I love my girl!!
Have a wonderful TODAY!!

A Cause just because.....

Happy Saturday everyone....

I wanted to share a few Causes I'm supporting and trying to help spread awareness... Social media is an amazing tool. Between your followers on your blogs, Facebook friends and tweets....request for prayers, request for support and kind words or making you aware of a need can spread like wild fire.

Three of my follow blogging friends posted this week about ways we can help....they didn't ask for others to blog about this .....I'm just choosing to. I know in these tough economic times it's hard to have extra money. So the reason I'm blogging about it is maybe you don't have the extra money to support. But with social media just by linking to your FB or tweeting maybe one or two of your friends or followers does!

First is Amy at Amy's Assorted Adventures , Amy and her family run an orphanage in the bush of Africa. She needs help buying chickens so they can produce eggs to feed the kids and sell to help keep the orphanage running. $11 buys one chicken and that one chicken can produce eggs for years to come.
Even if $11 dollars is not do able right now the orphanage is always in need of other things and prayers too. If any thing spread the word on FB/Twitter stop by her blog read her story.

Next is  Joanna I call her JJ at The Fifty Factor she has two little 9 year old friends on a mission to raise money and awareness for Lupus. Rosebud's mom has Lupus, her and her cousin BB raise money all year long for the cause and spread awareness. The determination and drive these two 9 years have is amazing to read about. Again if you can give....spread the word and perhaps others can. Say a prayer for Rosebud she also suffers from a rare kidney disease and say one for her Mom too.

Lastly is Melissa she is my Canadian neighbor. Melissa is a 30 year with Rheumatoid Arthritis, she is putting together a team to do the "Walk for Arthritis" in November helping raise money for Arthritis research. Melissa is an amazing person to me, her attitude and spirit is in the right place...she is doing the most she can to spread awareness about RA and support and educate others through her blog and being apart of causes like this. Her team is called Rheum Crashers, she may not be able to do the walk because of her RA, but the money for research and awareness is the goal. Again if you can't give spread the word  maybe someone else can. Melissa blog is A Gracious Calm stop by and say hi and cheer her on at the very least.

We are all blessed, I feel extremely blessed that I'm healthy and so is my family.... Have a wonderful Saturday and Hello October!

A special Happy Birthday wish to my sister Beth...love and miss you!

Friday Fragments...

Happy Friday!!
**I really want to go for a drive and take pictures of the fall colors.....if it would only stop raining long enough to do this....please Mother Nature gives us a break!!

**This weekend is Homecoming weekend here....Katelyn is on yearbook staff and has been taking pictures...first Powder Puff football game in the rain. Tonight is the Homecoming football game  probably in the rain....and Homecoming on Saturday night thank goodness that's indoors! She is going with friends and than afterwards to an "after party" !! Hope she has a good time and makes good choices!!

** In between the rain storms this week we are having our driveway extended. It's a long narrow drive and now with a third driver and car we are having to park on grass like other WNYers. Plus my hubby has ran into my daughter car twice now! Always better when it's him and not me! It's prepped and ready for the rain to stop so they can pour concrete....please Mother Nature stop the rain!!

**Katelyn's first of seven college applications went out this week....good thing is her essay is done, letter's of recommendations done, now she just needs to finish the other six applications. I think it's a huge relief to have this behind her....now she can enjoy her senior year.

** Have a wonderful weekend!!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. It is officially fall here in North America...I realize not everyone who participates in the Hodgepodge lives in North America but if you do, what's your favorite memory of Summer 2011? If you're not in North America, what's your favorite memory of the season just ending on your side of the world?

My favorite memory of this summer would have to be our family reunion at LBI on the Jersey shore.
My parents, my four sisters and spouses and 15 kids the equals 27 in all.  One week of amazing weather, food, drinks, fun and memories to last a lifetime.

2. Your favorite nut? You know I mean the edible kind, right?

I' m a nut girl....currently only trying to have raw almonds, but during the holidays for some reason cashews and pistachio's are my favorite!

3. What activity puts your sense of balance to the test?

I have no balance....riding a bike as been a test of balance. While our mode of transportation while living in Germany, there were many falling off my bike so randomly  and for no other reason then balance and coordination lacking.  Currently doing lunges at my workout class have but my balance to the test.

4. How would you describe your sense of humor?

I can laugh with the best of them....but it depends on the situation and my mood. I live with a man that is a comedian in his own mind.....I love him dearly but he needs new material!!

5. September 28th is National Ask a Stupid Question Day...what's your stupid question?

I have certainly ask a few in my time....probably everyday! I'm sorry drawing a blank....

6. Roller skates~hula hoop~jump rope...which activity would you most enjoy? Yes, you have to choose.

Back in my day I loved doing them all....but today I would pick hula hoop it's less dangerous to fall or pull something. Omg I sound like I'm 80!!

7. What's your most sentimental possession?

I would say my wedding ring....but also my pictures, sentimental items bought while traveling, various pieces of jewelry my hubby as given me over the years.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

We had our last back to school night this week.....last one...our daughter is a senior....yay! I felt really bad for her teachers, the showing of parents was pathetic. In some classes we were the only parents to show, and others maybe 4 or 5 out of 20. I personally feel these teachers give up their evenings to be there, how can you not show up? To me it shows a lack of respect and interest in your own child's life.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!! Stop by Joyce's at From this side of the Pond for more hodgepodge.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Do you like chili? Red or white? Beans or no beans? Spice or no spice? Toppings?

Yes I love chili, especially this time of year once the air gets crisp...I like making regular beef chili and I make a Southwest white bean chili and a turkey chili....toppings cheese!! Is it even chili without the beans?? Beans and 2 beano's is a must!

2. Red~Orange~Gold...your favorite fall color?

Depends on what we are talking about....for fall clothes I love brown and golds.....red and oranges for decorating.

3. Who did you idolize when you were growing up?

My parents of course .....and various Tiger Beat celebs back in the 70's/80's ! I also have had some amazing teachers over my younger years that made a huge difference in my life.

4. When was the last time you did something 'arts and craftsy'? Share please.

Probably decorating my front porch for fall...
For me this is about as artsy and craftsy as I get.....

5. What's a place that makes you really nervous?

The doctor's office....not sure why but I get nervous and my blood pressure always shoots up.

6. Horse back riding...yay or nay (neigh?)

Yes for sure but it's been many many years....not sure if I can even get up on a horse now!!

7. What is your favorite cliche?

I don't just have one....
-Misery loves company (I say that once a week at least in my exercise class)
-People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
-It takes two to tango
-Never say never
-Time flies
-Time will tell

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Along the lines of Joyce's random thought .....about summer fruits coming to an end....I'm sad about all the berries I have enjoyed and now need to switch to frozen. But I'm happy one of my favorite apples are out- Honeycrisp!! I love these apples.....they are expensive so I only buy  them for me and say to my family these are my apples...hands off. You see they aren't picky about their apples so Granny Smith and Red Delicious are fine for them! It's not that I don't share...really!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
