Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. How do you typically react in a sudden, extreme, pressure-filled crisis? Would we want you nearby in an emergency?
Depends on situation once working at the grocery store while in college I walked out to call police as the gunman stood there demanding money. My mind went to call 911 so I left to do that and in turn he turned the gun on another employee. Stupid and dangerous of me to just leave.

But once witnessing an accident I quickly pulled over and assisted the scared injured women waiting with her until police came and medical help came.

2. Caramel apple-caramel sundae-caramel corn-caramel macchiato...of the four, which carmel treat would you choose?
Caramel Apple hands down...

3. Is there such a thing as destiny? Explain.

I do.....explain ummm I think all things happen for a reason...

4. What's your favorite piece of furniture? I'm referring to something currently in your possession as opposed to something on your wish list.

Probably my bed....when I'm somewhere else I'm always happy to sleep in own bed.

5. Wednesday night marks the start of the 2011 Baseball World Series. Did you know? Do you care? Will you be watching? Ever been to a professional baseball game? If you're not an American do you find the title 'World Series' annoying or amusing?

I'm not a huge baseball fan, I won't watch but will follow the news on who wins. Yes it bugs me that it's called World Series. With that Go Rangers!

6. A sound that takes me back to my childhood is____________.

Ice cream man truck....nails on a chalk board....uum I'm sure theres more.

7. On average, once you've linked your hodgepodge post to mine how many other participant blogs do you visit? Do you ever come back to the Hodgepodge later in the day or even the day after to read posts?

I try to visit several above mine...and follow a few..sometimes I'll visit the ones that comment on mine....really depends on the day of how busy I am or not.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

We have a new trainer at boot camp and he yells ...I hate it and want to punch him! Seriously this is not a military type workout and I don't need someone over me yelling as I do push ups...I want to complain but hoping someone else does instead....I'm a wimp and non confrontational !

Happy Wednesday Join the fun head over to Joyce's at From this side of the Pond.

It's all about Katelyn ♥

Yesterday was a long awaited day for Katelyn....my accessory whore girl!
Remember back in August she had surgery on her torn ear lobe aka butt ear!

It is healing nicely, still a scar...eight weeks after surgery...

Today was piercing day...not the same screams and crying as in Kindergarten...
She gave me the look like holy crap that hurt!!!
So in three weeks she can change her earring and get back to her accessory ways!

Also tonight I made her favorite
Tomato Soup and grilled cheese...recipe from PINTEREST

It was delicious !!!

Recap from last weeks event...
Last Thursday was National Honor Society induction....here she is..

We couldn't be more proud!

Happy Monday!

Boy did it rain this weekend......and the wind, was something else! It was a weekend of staying in your sweats and cuddling by the fire! Well that's what I did while Katelyn was doing homework and hubby was fixing her car in garage. While sitting by the fire I was pinning on PINTEREST my latest obsession.

Hey in my defense the house was clean, groceries were stocked, laundry done.....etc......!

 My rainy day fun....

Heres a recipe I pinned. I'm making this for Katelyn it's her favorite soup- Tomato basil  and a side of grilled cheese! Yum...

I want to re-cover our living room couches and arm chair via slipcovers. Right now they are a green, red, tan plaid and I want something more neutral like this picture.

Or maybe tan so I can change up the colors with pillows seasonal. I love the idea of crisp white...but with my coffee spilling, red wine spilling family I don't know!

Lots of ideas and inspirations found on PINTEREST

Like this:

I'm going to print and frame for my Thanksgiving mantel

And this for Christmas, which is about 98 days away!!

And how about this laundry room...omg! I think this is brilliant idea. Who would'nt love doing laundry and ironing while watching your favorite shows.

Dreaming of going here some day.....maybe for my 50th...!
Santorini, Greece

And my favorite quote found

Yes it is.....
Not raining today..so far..going to head outdoors and live life today!
Happy Monday!

Do you Pinterest?
We have had so much fun pinning and finding fun things....
One thing I love is the up-do and different hair tutorials.
Not for me....my hair is hopeless...but Katelyn has beautiful thick long hair.
Most days she straightens it and on the real humid days she curls it.
She found this solution on Pinterest it's curl your hair with no heat.
Basically you put your hair in a high pony and wrap a toeless sock to form a bun.
If your interested watch the video.
It worked on Katelyn and made amazing curls.

Sock bun...sleep all night with it...

Results the next morning...gorgeous uh?

Happy Thursday all...

Wednesday Hodgepodge and a birthday wish!

1. Have you ever been 'asked' to report for jury duty? Were you chosen to serve? If not, were you happy or disappointed?
Yes several times, I was never chosen to serve....usually disappointed but relieved also.

2. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being very), how mechanically inclined are you? Give an example to back up your answer.

I'd say a 1 but if I had to be I probably could raise to the occasion. My hubby is very mechanical so he handles anything  in that arena.

3. Beets-cabbage-cauliflower-butternut squash....of the four, which is your favorite fall vegetable?

I love roasted cauliflower... but some butternut squash is a close second.

4. What do you recommend to overcome self-pity?

I try to think positive and know that in the grand scheme of things there is far worse things going on in the world today.

5. Do you enjoy classical music?

Sure there is a time and place for all music...now my next door neighbor that blares Italian Opera and sings along...not such a fan.

6. October is National Book Month...what's on your reading list this month?

Sad to say nothing.....need to head over to GOODREADS and see what's up.

7. What is your idea of 'cute'?

Any that makes me go ahhhh! Babies of any kind.....elderly couple holding hands...

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Today is my sister Karen's 50th Birthday!!! Happy Birthday Karen....love you and miss you!
I wish I could be there to help celebrate!

Happy Wednesday all.....stop by Joyce's at From this side of the pond for more Hodgepodge!

Blue Door wins....

Over the weekend we painted our front door and two side doors. I wanted blue and hubby wanted anything but blue....we painted it blue with the mind set if he hated it, we would re paint it something else.

Front door....we love it...
Want new hardware in black..

Friday Friday...

Happy Friday!!

It's going to be gorgeous here this weekend....up to 75 degrees by Sunday!! I have lots of "honey-do's" planned for my Honey and me, and it involves little or no football!

We are going to finally paint our front door and two side doors. Right now they are a faded reddish mauve and I'd like them a navy blue....but hubby isn't on board yet with that color...so today I'm painting a big poster board navy blue to sell him on it....wish me luck. Everyone has a red door I am in a blue phase...I follow two different bloggers that have painted blue front doors this year and I love them. My front door is exactly like Ann's at On Sutton Place .
When I went to Sherman Williams to get my little sample of Navy blue the two ladies working there were totally on Hubby side trying to talk me out of it....their suggestions were yellow or a burnt orange, nope it's either Blue or Red....thanks I'll be back!
This photo is much brighter than actual door

We are extending our driveway to make room for parking Katelyn's car and so we can back out of our garage without landing on the grass or hitting Katelyn's car like my hubby has twice now. The rains finally stopped and they came and poured the concrete yesterday...it looks so nice! I have never been so excited to have concrete before....so in three weeks we can use it....I  really hope we don't run into the barrier blocking the new concrete.

I'm so proud of my daughter Katelyn so made National Honor Society. She is really excited to be a part of this group and I think it will be a really good asset for her college applications. But with that comes more community service hours.....so far she has 53 hours needed to be done between different clubs and NY state requirements. She needs to get busy....

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Stop by Half-Past Kissin Time today!

I ♥ Katelyn

Here is Katelyn's Homecoming shot....it was this last weekend. I wish I had taken more pictures, I love her dress not too fancy, not skin tight, or too short. She did her own undo by following a tutorial on YouTube. She went with friends, took pictures for yearbook, did some dancing and went to an after party. She said she had fun....and that is the extent of a 17year's conversation.
I love my girl!!
Have a wonderful TODAY!!

A Cause just because.....

Happy Saturday everyone....

I wanted to share a few Causes I'm supporting and trying to help spread awareness... Social media is an amazing tool. Between your followers on your blogs, Facebook friends and tweets....request for prayers, request for support and kind words or making you aware of a need can spread like wild fire.

Three of my follow blogging friends posted this week about ways we can help....they didn't ask for others to blog about this .....I'm just choosing to. I know in these tough economic times it's hard to have extra money. So the reason I'm blogging about it is maybe you don't have the extra money to support. But with social media just by linking to your FB or tweeting maybe one or two of your friends or followers does!

First is Amy at Amy's Assorted Adventures , Amy and her family run an orphanage in the bush of Africa. She needs help buying chickens so they can produce eggs to feed the kids and sell to help keep the orphanage running. $11 buys one chicken and that one chicken can produce eggs for years to come.
Even if $11 dollars is not do able right now the orphanage is always in need of other things and prayers too. If any thing spread the word on FB/Twitter stop by her blog read her story.

Next is  Joanna I call her JJ at The Fifty Factor she has two little 9 year old friends on a mission to raise money and awareness for Lupus. Rosebud's mom has Lupus, her and her cousin BB raise money all year long for the cause and spread awareness. The determination and drive these two 9 years have is amazing to read about. Again if you can give....spread the word and perhaps others can. Say a prayer for Rosebud she also suffers from a rare kidney disease and say one for her Mom too.

Lastly is Melissa she is my Canadian neighbor. Melissa is a 30 year with Rheumatoid Arthritis, she is putting together a team to do the "Walk for Arthritis" in November helping raise money for Arthritis research. Melissa is an amazing person to me, her attitude and spirit is in the right place...she is doing the most she can to spread awareness about RA and support and educate others through her blog and being apart of causes like this. Her team is called Rheum Crashers, she may not be able to do the walk because of her RA, but the money for research and awareness is the goal. Again if you can't give spread the word  maybe someone else can. Melissa blog is A Gracious Calm stop by and say hi and cheer her on at the very least.

We are all blessed, I feel extremely blessed that I'm healthy and so is my family.... Have a wonderful Saturday and Hello October!

A special Happy Birthday wish to my sister Beth...love and miss you!
