Friday Fragments -Episode 1

[scan00022.jpg]
Hosted by Mrs.4444

Finally Friday, TGIF- Thank god it's Friday.......OMG yea! It's Friday!

In my former life, as in 18 months ago when I lived in AMERICA and had a job, friends and a life! I loved Fridays, it was my day off from my part time job, the day I ran errands, met friends for coffee or lunch. My day....now everyday is a Friday but not nearly as Fun.

My German teacher always uses words like "IN FORMER DAYS" . I always thought she meant back during the war or something like that, but really she means beyond yesterday. I drive my daughter crazy, I always say "Back in the day" I'm thinking of switching it up to "In former days" and really put her over the edge!

I was telling my German teacher about a PTA meeting I went to, how a German parent was complaining the she feels too much German is spoke by the children in the halls and playground. The director assured her that she was most likely hearing a mix of German and English. And not all English is the same, they are taught by an American teacher for one subject, an Australian teacher for the next, British teacher etc...you are bound to sound different but the fundamentals are the same. So I was telling her I was talking to the British teacher and I had no idea what she was saying....she was talking about her daughter in London that was in labor at that very moment and so forth. My German teacher said what do you mean she was in labor and why would she talk about medicine? SO I explain to her  what the word labor means as far as having a baby. She got all excited she had never heard of it used in the context...she said surly none of my friends know this. I'm pretty sure I'm the topic of many of her conversations! I'm not sure who is teaching who!

I broke out my Wii Fit Plus I got for Christmas.....it told me I'm obese and my Wii Fit age is 59! At first I was all depressed and pissed off then I started thinking how close I was to AARP age and all the discounts that go with it. I wonder if I can get a Wii Fit age ID!

Happy Friday!!

A Wii Fit ID could be great! Here we have 11 official languages and everybody speaks English with a different accent. You can imagine the confusion...

This is so funny. You are so funny. I used to say when I was young to some elderly people and they would looked at me like you are not old like us yet.

Now I learn to say when I was younger.

everytime someone says Happy Friday to me at the grocery store, i cringe. i HATE not having a job, and miss really enjoying a friday/weekend.

oh yah, and i miss the social life too, man, i was what my family called "the rolling stone that gathers no moss" back home in america, cuz i was constantly out.

thankfully i have a beautiful place to be stuck in all day.

and these rejection letters on pdfs, what is the deal with german companies anyway, have you recieved pdfs a lot since moving here? a pdf with some piddly little bit of info like "thank you for applying..."

ok i'm feeling kind of glum now, and i'm totally snowed in.

oh, and i wouldn't want a wii telling me how old i am, oh no!

sorry so negative, i hope the wii can break some of this winter gloom for you!

That Wii Fit is a cruel one. :-) I wish they'd put a "gentle" mode on it so it would make all those evil sounds when you step on...

you just totally cracked me up with the wii information...I probably would have sat on it if it gave me numbers I didn't like :)

and most days my days are fridays, too....all part of being a stay at home mom for the past 16 years....

yikes....I think it's time to get my butt back out there in the real world....

Your German stories are always interesting. Who would think they don't know what "labor" is.

When I was a kid, I would ask my dad what was it like "back in the old days".

Claudya Martinez said...

I love how you saw the positive of your Wii Fit age. I'm still laughing about it.

My Wii Fit is SO mean to me. It's always like, "Why did you gain weight?" and I'm all none of your business, thanks!

You're so funny. No, young lady, you may NOT get an old age Wii ID--You will keep working out with that danged thing until you go backwards at lest 20 years! (Well, if you want to, haha.)

Your German teachers sounds...well...German. (haha again)

Have a great weekend!!

Sometimes when British people talk I just stare and blink because we really truly aren't speaking the same brand of English *L*

I think I told you that I went to Germany as an exchange student one summer in HS? I took French so I didn't know any German, but someone couldn't go at the last minute so I got to. So, my host family knew that I couldn't speak or understand German and they would be amazed when I knew that the apothecary was the pharmacy, etc.

I got Wii fit for Christmas and I haven't used it because I don't want it to tell me what I don't want to hear. :)

Maude Lynn said...

I'm afraid of what a Wii Fit would tell me!

I don't have a wii, but I keep hearing about how insulting they can be. Let me know if that ID works out.

Hilarious! It's so funny how words mean so many different things.

Thanks for visiting my blog on my SITS day!

You're so funny. My Mii is fat and sleeping, over at my in-law's house.

Do you mind if I use "In former days"? I think that sounds..regal?
It's definately better than "back in the day", which I find myself using WAY TOO MUCH.
"In days prior" also has a nice ring to it.

Unknown said...

I like the idea of a Wii Fit i.d. too. I know I'd qualify for all the senior discounts. I could just imagine my Mii picture on my i.d.

It's no longer Friday but hope it was a good one for you.

I want a Wii Fit but I'm scared what it's going to tell me. I kind of want to lose weight before I get it, kind of like cleaning before the cleaning lady come over LOL....
