Ouch....

Yesterday I went Snowshoeing with my neighbor. We went to the local golf course it was a winter playground there. Sledding in full swing, Cross Country Ski track and me snow shoeing while my neighbor Xcountry skied.

Wonder if she is sore today...probably not!

I can barely move today....my back is so stiff and my legs well lets just say OUCH!! Its hard to snowshoe with someone skiing okay she moved faster and I huffed and puffed to keep up. Plus I had diarrhea of the mouth, chatty Kathy to a whole new level. Must have been the fresh air, slight sighting of the sun and occasional blue sky.

I'm going to look for used cross country skis so we can go together again...I think I slowed her down!
I did a major faux pas and got yelled at by a hard core skier....I feel horrible about it but he could have been nicer. I walk on the course with my snow shoes oops....only for a couple minutes!

Off to pop some Ibuprofen!! Happy Monday!

Sunday in my City

Happy Sunday all! It's another cold one here in Western New York! The sky and ground match each other. It's not quite gray but a dirty white. Our local Made In America store had a Winterfest yesterday. Featuring this guy below, along with Snowmobile jumping, Country music and hotdogs and more! We stopped by on Friday to get pictures of the SNOWZILLA  before the crowds and advertising went up. 

Trying to find the beauty in Winter can be tough, it's fun to come across things like this. I still am in shock how it is always snowing just a little here and there but always. And the bitter cold....I know it's everywhere this year...! Burr!

Black and White Wednesday-Amaryllis

Finally......My Amaryllis bloomed! 

It took a long time, I think next year I'll plant the bulb earlier. 

It's the first time I've ever planted one, it took a long to bloom and didn't last as long as I hoped. 

But it was beautiful,  Black and White doesn't do justice so I snuck a colored one into my collage.

Today.....

It's absolutely balmy out TODAY! Temperatures yesterday, minus 7 and this morning 30! Crazy but I will not complain! I had Sophie groomed last week, all her curls are gone! She is cold, I find her curled up in a tight ball....so for the last couple days she has been wearing her Snuggie! I think she likes it!

Here she is looking for her boyfriends....Duncan across the street a Chocolate Lab and two doors down is Cooper a Labadoodle.....she has good taste! All you have to say is their names and she runs from window to window looking for them.

I'm so ready for January to be gone I'm forcing February. I decorated for Valentine's Day this weekend. Nothing too crazy just two of my mantels...here they are!

I really don't have a lot of Valentine decorations, unlike one of my four sister's that has 4 rubber made totes of Valentines and goes absolutely crazy decorating! I did go to The Christmas Tree Shop yesterday and scored some cheap St. Patty's Day stuff! If you have one in your area....have you been? They have everything and anything fairly cheap!

Extreme...

No school today due to EXTREME temperatures.....

It is minus 7 degrees here currently and with the windchill it feels like minus 20! Too cold for the kids to wait for the bus and be in a already normally cold school. We set our home temperature at night for 65 it is still only 63! Between fireplaces and furnace it can't warm this place up!
I know you are sick of hearing me bitch about the weather but hello this is extreme arcticness I have never experienced! But on the bright side I have a playmate today and lots of plans....except it's 9 and she is still sleeping! I want to bundle up and go go go!

Snowing again.....

I know it's winter and I live in Western New York not Florida! But enough is enough, I swear it snows everyday! I feel like I'm stuck in a snow globe, everyday someone shakes it! Yes it's so pretty look at the snow fall shake it again ahhh! Enough!

I have had the same snow boots since the late 80's seriously! They are the best.....they are now my go to shoe I wear them every freaking day here! I'm so over them....like the snow!

It's too late in the game to get new and lets face it I've had these bad boys for twenty plus years! It's time......after this winter I'm retiring these boots to my emergency kit! 

I have my eyes on these beauties!

Sorel Boots have never failed me so I'm sticking with them. These are the Joan of ARCTIC boots, pretty fitting since I believe Buffalo and the Arctic share the same zip code! 

I'm dreaming of Spring and cute shoes!

Friday Fragments

It's Friday!! Woot Woot!

The arctic temps are returning to Buffalo this weekend and possibly other places too! Could reach to negative numbers.....burr! I'll be camping out by the fireplace all weekend! I downloaded an app yesterday to my Iphone...it's cute and totally tells me I have too much time on my hands and it takes little to entertain me! Sad! It's called Swackett it's a different kind of weather app....tells you according to the weather if you need to wear a sweater, coat or jacket or all three! I know like I can't figure that out on my own! 

Football weekend....woot woot two more weeks of football yeah! I have to say I'm not a fan...my husband is....after not having American Football for two years while in Germany he is totally making up for loss time. Football on Saturdays,Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays.....football until I puke! But for some reason I sit there and watch occasional pay attention and cheer!  He doesn't follow a certain team so that's why we watch them all. But last weekend I was Face Booking go Jets probably Tweeted it too...like now that I'm a NY resident I am a loyal fan or something....one might be confused. I guess it's nice to have a team in NY that actually wins games....it's hard to be a BILLS fan see what I'm saying!

My Zumba class started up this week so between my Bootcamp three days a week and Zumba plus a few walks on the treadmill this week I'm trashed! My body aches and I'm walking funny! I'm ready for a restful weekend....hope you all have the same!

Fixin up some grub....

For this little one.....we affectionally now call Itchyroo aka Sophie! Here she is KO cuddling one of her babies, can you see her little pink skin? It's starting up again.....here itching, biting herself and licking her toes.....! We have had her on so many foods and medicine and it always comes back! The last was a grain free food my MIL recommended and it seem to work but she had the worse gas you have ever experienced. But the itching has started again so this time after emailing with a fellow blogger with the same breed of dogs with the same problem she makes her own food and it has made a huge difference.

The internet is a beautiful thing but there is too much info out there. My blogger friend Ina recommended this book, The Barker's Grub by Rudy Edalati

It arrived yesterday, so this is my new Betty Crocker Cookbook chuck full of recipes that any pooch should love! I laughed skimming through the book with funny names like:

Moon Dog Mix

Juju Chicken and Rice

Sweet Woody Turkey and Oatmeal

Lo Mein Barking Style

Liver Love

Winter Comfort food

Davie's Wiggly Jiggly Anemia Diet

And so on....So far I have been feeding her chicken, brown rice and peas and carrots....she does back flips for it! I hope this helps her !

The news station we watch here in the mornings has weather on the 9's! Which means weather every nine minutes....in case it changes or you miss it. Today's weather...we are having a Nuisance Storm today! Hummm! What in the world is that...aren't all storms a nuisance! I get a laugh out of the weather man here. 

Also on the job front I received an email yesterday from a company that was so impressed with my resume and has a MANAGEMENT position for me out of my home. I can make $550-$750 a week and only work 6-10 hours...wow! It's processing Foreign credit card payments. I have to have a checking account and if I don't have one they will help me set on up! Wow! And I process them through my bank.....what do you think....it's Management people!! or is it money laundering! I deleted it thanks but no thanks!  

On the exercise front I'm 6 for 6 days this week! Woot Woot I'm dead ass tired and sore! Trying to stay focus and positive but it's hard I just want to wiggle my nose and pow it's a gone!

Katelyn and I are doing the Project 365 picture a day, it's much harder than we thought!  Hard to get creative and not take the same picture. Plus load and edit everyday. 

Not too exciting of a weekend planned here..hope yours is better!

Out for a drive....

Today Katelyn only had a half day of school.We met Craig for lunch and after that we headed out for a drive. It was cold but beautiful today. Katelyn was at the wheel and I was armed with my camera and zoom lens.

I really love living out in the sticks!

I'm nervous...

I've been awake since 3:30am....my mind was racing. Millions of things going through my head, none of them helping me sleep. Printed off these bad boys yesterday, mailing out today...I'm nervous, excited and scared. Looking for a job after being off for two years...haven't interviewed in at least 10 years! Yikes can you see why I'm nervous! What if I lost the skills while living aboard...my new skills are blogging, Facebook and FreeCell solitaire! I'm a whizz at all those but can I sell myself on my old job skills...see now your nervous for me too!

I'm looking for a part time job as an Administrative Assistant, only want to work 9-3 but 2:30 would be better! Oh and did I mention I'd like to work close to home due to the fact it snows a lot here and my car and me both don't like driving too far in it! So what do you think......I know see why I'm not sleeping and nervous! Hard to make the life change once again....if only we moved back to Salt Lake City where my old job that I loved was there....and all the people I adored working with! Okay some one slap reality back in me and push me out the door to the Post Office!

Today

Is day 8 of Project 365 a photo a day! Katelyn and I are both doing it....so sometimes we are trying to capture our picture of the day at the same time. She is a much better photographer than I. She has an eye for things at different angles and thinks more out of the box than her old Mom.
Thought I'd post her picture of the day, mostly cause I love it and her!

I found this skier in an Antique store when I was in New Jersey for Thanksgiving. I bought it and saved it for Craig's Christmas stocking. It hangs in his home office window. Sun was hitting it just right this morning inspiring my girls picture of the day......darn still don't have mine!

The life of a dog....

This was my first sunrise for 2011, we had several days in the 50's plus rain. As of yesterday morning all our snow was gone. It was so weird looked like Spring out, but very cold. About 9am the snow started, kept blowing all day. We only received about 3-4 inches if that. It looks and feels like Winter again, yeah! Katelyn was really hoping for a snow day....she's a dreamer what can I say!

A new day in a new year!

Yesterday, on the first day of a new year....I started it the way I love starting each year fresh! We took down all the Christmas decorations, put away in their storage. Cleaned the house from top to bottom, all the laundry is done. Everything is in it's place!

I'm ready to start the New Year!

Today I'm cleaning out the refrigerator and pantry, ridding of all temptations and evil. Heading to the grocery store in search for the new healthier choices for my family. My trainer has provided me with a lovely guide....it doesn't have anything from a box on the list, no ice cream or cookies, certainly no candy!
I hope by weeks end my family and I won't be in the closet eating splenda packets or fighting over brown sugar just to get a fix!

I might print off a large picture of myself and run copies to Dunkin Donuts, Tim Hortons and various bakeries with a do not serve her if you see her poster, just to be safe! I might make ask all our grocery stores not to carry Valentine peeps or any kind of gummy product, or conversation hearts or don't sell to me.

I might search online for some WILL POWER.....wonder if Amazon or Overstock sells some? I'd be willing to pay for shipping and over night delivery.



I'm ready......it's a new day.....It's my year!! omg....I'm scared!
