Friday Fragments...

It's Friday....woo....woo!
Joining up with Mrs. 4444's Friday Fragments
Stop by join the fun!

Did you get your lottery ticket?
Half a billion dollars!
According to CNN you have a greater chance of getting struck by lightening then winning!
I'm thinking about buying one...
It will be my first time...
What do I have to lose!

At my workout class yesterday everyone was talking about what they'd do with the money! I was like you wouldn't see me again....I'd be in Beverly Hills having this body nipped, tucked and sucked!
The hell with working out! What would you do with the money?

Katelyn had an amazing Birthday thanks for all her Birthday greetings.....still struggling with the fact my baby is 18! On the eve of her Birthday...her friends took her to dinner and at the restaurant was a friend from school...with flowers and candy asking her to prom. She is so excited....best Birthday ever!

This week has flown by incredibly fast....yet I find myself saying I'm glad it's Friday! I'm shocked we are almost to April yet glad to have March behind me...it was a busy one! Spring break is coming and we are heading to the sunshine....I can't wait! But I seriously need to do something about my scary white legs!

We are going to our first wedding in years, anyone now the etiquette on how much to spend on a gift when three of you are going?

I think I found my dress for the wedding and the best part is it only cost me $39.99! Now the hunt for shoes is on!

Tonight is my daughter's scholarship dinner...I'm really proud of her and her hard work....but the reality of her leaving for college leaves a lump in my throat...and a tear in my eye!

Have a wonderful weekend all! If I win the Mega Million....I will share I promise!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's the last job you did that required elbow grease?

Cleaning showers....our bathroom tile is really hard to clean...I hate it!

2. March Madness, aka the men's Division I basketball championship, is nearing an end. What sort of 'madness' has your house seen this month?

March has been busy here between my daughter's senior trip, our anniversary, her birthday, scholarship dinner and hubby working long hours...our calendar has been full. But it makes the time fly by...hard to believe April is around the corner!

3. What's your favorite shop for browsing?
There is many Antique Malls here, I like to browse them every couple weeks! I've been dress shopping a lot for upcoming events so lots of browsing and trying on has been going on!

4. Is there ever a time when giving up makes sense?
When you can't change someone.....people are who they are....acceptance where there is not acceptance is tough one!

5. What's a song you love that contains the name of a city, state or country in its title?
I love Alicia Keys and JayZ Empire State of Mind-

6. When did you first begin using a computer?
In college back in the early 90's! It was a huge desk top and so slow compared to today's computers!

7. Did you buy girl scout cookies this year? What's your favorite?
In the early fall here....my favorite is Samoas aka Caramel deLites followed up by Thin Mints....some people say oh freeze them.....they are gone too fast here...no freezing necessary!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Today is my sweet baby-Katelyn's 18th Birthday! Love you Kate with all my heart! I hope your birthday is as wonderful as you are....much love! xo

Friday Fragments...

Yay! It's Friday!!
Joining Mrs. 4444's over at Half Past Kissin' Time
for Friday Fragments

* Katelyn's seasonal Ski instructor job came to a quick end....such an odd winter everywhere. We gave her a little time off and after her senior trip she started applying...I'm happy to say she is currently employed. Yay! She is working at a new Cupcake shop in town. It has potential to be dangerous for me...will she bring home cupcakes? Will there be discounts? So far nothing as come home.....granted it's day two but I'm secretly hoping one or two come home!

* On that note I took my first Pilates class....my instructor's name is Orlando! Sounds fancy uh? My thoughts were with a name like that he must look like this.....

 Or better yet this.....

If I'm going to be working so hard I need a visual.....but sadly the name did not fit the man....so my visual will be eating a cupcake guilt free!

Not me but I looked a lot like that on the machine! I loved it and man could I feel it!

* Do you watch Ellen? I love her and her message....She is standing behind the movie "Bully" it's an important movie. It has some controversy over the rating, it was given an R rating, but really needs to be seen in middle school and probably younger. It's an epidemic out there....bullying. Please take your kids to this movie....Bullying needs to be talked about and addressed....and most of all stopped!

* Our beautiful 80 degree weather is coming to an end....rain and 50's all weekend is being called for! I can't complain it's been amazing! Our grass is so green and already needs cutting. I got all my shorts and summer clothes out. I'm ready even though my stark white legs aren't ! It's been a real treat!

* I have been on the hunt for a dress....one I can wear for four events...Scholarship dinner, Award Dinner, Wedding and Graduation....sounds easy right! I've been wearing my spanx hitting every shop in town....omg! Nothing more depressing than trying on clothes with stark white legs and dark socks on! Did you know you can get stuck in a dress.. it's true! It's happen to me more than once! It's not pretty...panic sets in...you start sweating, than swearing....than try and dislocate a shoulder or two....possible tear or tears involved! Needless to say the hunt is still on!

Have a Happy Friday and wonderful Weekend!

Wednesday Hodgepodge-Spring!

1. The first day of spring is here...do you enjoy working in the yard? Weeding, raking, mowing, planting-your favorite springtime garden chore? How about your least favorite?

I do sometimes...I like the planting part...it's the weeding and prep part I hate! I'm allergic to grass so I rarely cut the grass anymore, plus we have a riding lawn mower and I need to be trained on it!

2. What puts a spring in your step?

Having a productive day and getting my list done and still having time to relax!

3. Describe a time when you had to spring into action?

Once while driving my daughter to school I witnessed a single car accident and usually I keep driving because other's usually pull over and not having any medical training I deem myself useless. For some reason this time I pulled over and helped, it was so surreal and glad I did.

4. We're having carrots for dinner...would you prefer yours raw or cooked?

As a side dish raw for sure!

5. Do you take the shampoos and other sundries from your hotel room when its time to check out?

Depends if I like the brand or if I've already opened it.

6. What's the most enjoyable team or club you've belonged to and what was it that made it so?

I've been a part  two different Bunco groups does that count as a club....loved getting together once a month and chatting. Loved being apart of a book club as well....and a brief time a part of a tennis team....I think just being with a group of women with common interest is what it's all about.

7. Is cloning a sign of progress?

Yes of coarse!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Yesterday was the first day of Spring...I was out and about all day...So Happy Spring!
My sister told me about these babies and I found some while shopping yesterday! They are too cute for Easter and yummy! I'm of coarse going to make them myself at a $1 a pop I can make them for less to enjoy and share!

Aren't they the cutest!

Happy St. Patty's Day

I hope you all have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!
Everyone is Irish on this day!
It's a good excuse to wear too much green!
Drink lots of beer!
And pinch strangers without green!

This is one of my favorite Irish Blessing
And a fun modern version!

Happy Weekend!
Happy St. Patty's Day!

Disney Girl

Katelyn had a wonderful time on her Senior Class trip to Disney World!
They were on the go non stop from Thursday to Monday...
Her poor little feet hurt so bad!
By the last night one of the boys got her and a friend a wheel chair and pushed them around the park...
he was so sick of hearing them complain about their feet!

Lots of smiles,
memories
and new friendships!

Happy Monday!!

My kind of day today.......Spring like in the 50's !
No school today, so Sophie watched all the neighbor kids play outside!
She loves sitting at the front door....
I deep cleaned my house today...
Second I finished it started to rain...
Ah! Spring is here!

My baby is coming home tonight! Yay!
Omg I won't lie that was a hard 5 days!
I loved having my hubby all to my self but I really missed my girl!

Happy Monday!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Did March come in like a lion or was it something less ferocious in your neck of the woods?

It has been sunnier than usual but colder than usual also!  It's certainly not Spring yet!

2. Speaking of lions, which one's your film favorite...The Cowardly Lion(Wizard of Oz), Mufasa (The Lion King), Elsa (Born Free), or Alex(Madagascar)? You may notice I left Aslan off the list. Including him would have made this question way too easy for many of you.

Mufasa hands down....love Lion King!

3. What's your favorite spot from which to view the sunrise or sunset?

Currently on our back porch but my favorite vacation sunset is in Cabo San Lucas....
Or in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah!

4. To what extent is knowledge power and to what extent is truth power? What's the difference?

"Nourish the mind like you would your body. The mind cannot survive on junk food. Jim Rohn"

I totally agree with this quote....if you only feed your mind....People magazine and "Jersey Shore" instead of a book or quality programs and conversations....soon no one will want to talk to you or hear what you have to say!

"Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. ~ Thomas Jefferson"

With truth you can speak freely knowing what you say and believe is honest and powerful...but to many the truth hurts...so sometimes we have to soften it.

5. What's something peculiar you've seen recently?

I wish I had a picture...but last week while at the airport I saw a female traveller wearing the highest high heels shoes know to man or women. I don't know about you but when I travel it's comfort, easy access to removing shoes, and with the potential sprint from gate to gate in mind!
Simular to these but add a few inches!
6. Bottled water...your thoughts?

I'm a bottled water user, part taste of water here, part the convenience...I just bought one of these in hope I can use less plastic.

7. What's your strongest sense?

I'll say smell maybe tie with sight!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

My baby is leaving tomorrow for her class trip to Disney World....she spent hours packing...seriously she would deny it but between homework and packing she was in her room from 3:00-9:30 stopping for a quick dinner! She said it's because it's hard to pack for another season than you are currently in.....whatever!  I'm going to miss her!

Fantastic Finds....

On Friday and Saturday I scored big time.....
Found all my favorite collectables!
Friday I went to a Antique Mall close by my house...
I've only ran in there once, like a year ago....
I'm kicking my self for not stopping by more....

Here is what I bought at the Antique Mall

The little Sophie statue to the left...
Never planned on collecting or having a Sophie shrine (as Katelyn calls it!)
But once you find one, it's hard not to buy... so now I have 3!
So I collect a lot of Blue and White dishes and such...
Also have a few pitchers, so whats not to love about a combo of both!
Love all things Delft....little bunny bank...
for $4.00 couldn't say no!
This platter is not my typical blue and white,
but I loved the pattern and the price!
Not sure if I'll hang it on my wall or what!

My workout buddy told me about a flea market on Saturday...
I was so excited to go...walked through the door and almost spent all my money at the first vendor.
These two little oil paintings are from Holland they are about 4x5
perfect for my living room picture wall I'm planning to redo in the future.
She gave me such a deal $2.50 each.
I also bought these three Delft items
Love the little Salt and Pepper people
Aren't they sweet!

These is a little dish...for change or not sure what...
I love this plate and it's round edges.

I also bought this dish from her....
I love the onion patterns also....

I also found this old antique frame....
The picture doesn't do justice...it's weathered and rusty..
cleaned it up some and found an old picture of Katelyn..

Also to add to my Nesting Doll collection...
I bought this guy...it's different
But I like it!

I ran out of money and had to leave a few things behind..
But good news next month is the last of the season at this particular place...
Next year I'll be a regular for sure.
Prices were amazing and the people were so nice...
Lots of elderly people, down sizing...
say their kids don't want this stuff.....
and I say Yay....better for me!

The game of Tag

One of my favorite bloggers "tagged" me in the 11 game! Lisa of lisa roy muskoka...a designer obsessed with pretty things, beautiful spaces, Interesting places...and handbags. Lisa is a fellow expat blogger from Muskoka, Canada now living in Dubai. She has an amazing blog and Etsy shop and a eye for design like no other.

The idea is that a blogger "tags" another blogger and gives them 11 questions to answer in a post, then that blogger "tags" another 11 bloggers and comes up with 11 questions for them to answer and so on.

1. What is the last DIY project you completed?
We recently redid our bedroom, on the picture gallery wall I did a small DIY PINTEREST copy it was easy and not too involved. I love how it turned out and pops on our wall.

Basically glued scrabble tiles on a covered mat, this mat I bought at JoAnn Fabrics a year ago. It was the beginning inspiration of my room.

2. What do you love most about yourself?
I love that I'm a good friend to all. Or at least I try to be......

3. Dog person or cat person?
This is easy, I'm allergic to cats so I've always been a dog person. My current love is my 6 year old Wire Fox Terrier Sophie.

4. What made you choose your current home?
We moved to our current home 18months ago (wow already!) after being transferred here. We looked at so many homes, this was the last home we looked at. We were on our way to the airport and the minute I stepped through the doors I knew it was the one. Everything we looked at was like stepping back in time. We had remodeled several homes and just knew my hubby would not have the time to do that again. This home needed nothing done and was our style. It's the youngest home we have ever own 15 years old and though it needs a few modern touches it's perfect for now.

5. If you were single and could go on a date with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I'm going to add single and younger to the question....it would be my celebrity crush Ryan Gosling!
Why? Hello.....it's Ryan Gosling enough said!!

6. What room in your home would you most like to redo?
My Kitchen....right now it has dark cabinets and formica counter tops and the appliances and sink are really dated. I would love a white kitchen and stainless steel appliances with a marble/butcher's block combo counter top. My hubby would like to knock down a wall and open it up....but that I'd lose a whole wall of cabinets. Some day we will attack that room.

7. What is your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite is playing outside with my sisters and neighbor friends for hours on a summer day. Playing kick the can or cops and robbers waiting for the dinner bell or yell to come home. The endless games with kids of all ages....endless summer fun!

8. What is the most embarrassing thing you've ever said or done?
Omg I have certainly wiped that memory out of my mind....I know I have said and done plenty but my recall is zero! Sorry!

9. Who is the most influential person in your life?
My husband for sure.....

10. If you won the lottery today, what is the first thing you would buy?
A new kitchen see number 6! No I would buy our daughter's education....she starts University in the fall. I would pay for her 5 years in advance.

11. Describe your dream home.
My dream home would be a big country home with a big lemonade front porch. All the modern conveniences with a country chic feel. Big enough for all my family to visit with a homey cozy feel.

Okay there you have it! Thanks Lisa for tagging me!

Here is my 11 bloggers...no pressure to play along!

Here's the 11 questions
1. Describe yourself in seven words
2. Your favorite meal to cook
3. If I were to ask you where you are from....where do you consider home? Where you live now, where you grew up or where you were born?
4. What's your talent?
5. What's your dream job?
6. What do you fear?
7. If you won the lottery what would you buy first?
8. Favorite charity?
9. Favorite candy?
10. If you could change on thing about yourself what would it be?
11. If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?

Play along if you like...no pressure!

Happy Weekend !!!
