Random Tuesday

randomtuesday

It's Tuesday.....and almost half way through January. My focus is off, still have jet lag.....nobody should be awake at 4 am except the Baker down the street.

First German Class of the new year .....I still suck! Today we totally got off subject and had a discussion about the words....strange, odd and curious. She thinks they all mean the same....I disagreed ....I'm stupid it would have been easier to agree. Remember that for next time!!

My German TV at 4 am plays 3 channels with naked women doing things not made for anyones eyes at 4am or 4 pm!

Walked to the store today in lots of snow.....uphill both ways....at least it felt like it! Note to self ...get to the Gym!

Ate half of the Baguette I bought for dinner tonight on my walk home from store...Oops SORRY family!

For more RANDOM TUESDAY stop byThe UNMOM and her random friends !

Happy Tuesday!!

I've always heard that the German's are a little more open to things, so I'm not so sure I'm surprised with your TV channels!

Yum fresh bread in Germany! I'm a little but green with envy! Hope your class goes well. I'll be following along to see how it goes.

If fitness classes served bread there would be a lot more takers!

Have you ever read David Sedaris's essays about learning French? Funny stuff.

We have those channels in the netherlands..LOL we get naked commercials too..should of seen my two sons eyes and mine bug out the first time we saw that..lol

Are you required to take a german language class or is this just for yourself in order to learn it?

Strange, odd and curious in English- because they can mean the same thing but each word can also carry other connotations. It's hard for Germans, I think, as it is hard for me when I use a word like weniger, and I think that it shouldn't be possible for a word to mean both less and fewer. I think they are such different words that German should also have different words. The more German I take, the more I see how British English is closer to German in some ways than American English: waiting on a bus, writing an examination, usw.

LMAO... I too would be eating the bread on the way home.... What are you doing up so early? Your jet lag is going the WRONG way...

Sometimes I eat the pretzel meant for my boys. Oops! :-)

Walk everywhere you can... even if you eat the whole baguette! I started walking & lost 10 lbs! (since sept.)

Did you walk uphill barefoot? You will get your energy back soon!! xoxo

I'm betting though that the jet lag was worth the trip. And I remember going uphill both ways too.

Can't tell you how much I wish there was a baker down the street from my house. Especially one that was baking at 4 am - since that's when I get up in the morning to write. The only business down the street from my house is a hospital. Not the same...

Ha, ha sorry family, it's all gone!

Dont worry about the class! I speak Mandarin (after 4 years still learning!) and I am better than most people I know who are E as a first language people.

BUT I was the worst in the beginning! The worst! 1 hour 5 days a week can make all the difference.

OMG! This post made me laugh! I am nearly recovered from my own jet-lag. .. that's a one week recovery, if you're wondering. But I think some of the stress comes from the non-stop activities back home. Hope you had a fun time on your journey to Utah!

How do you say, "I still suck" in German?

Anonymous said...

Strange, odd and curious can have some different meanings - also in German! So don't feel bad for disagreeing...

I'd translate "I still suck" in German this way: "Ich bin immer noch ziemlich schlecht" (At least, that's what I as a mother-tonuge German would say...)
