Sundays In my City

Its been awhile since I've join Unknown Mami on Sunday!

Today's Sunday in my City is about....

 My favorite time of year ...

Garage Sales, Estate Sales etc...

My heart skips a beat when I see a sign and wonder the treasures that lay ahead.

On Friday after my exercise class I drove to a little town near by.

my first time to this tiny town, there was a road block due to a propane truck that crashed.

By the time I got there I was number 32 on the list....

Not sure by you, at Estate Sales here there is a list and they only let in

10-15 people at a time.

So out side I stood in my workout clothes....and a light snow falling!

freezing and cursing my #32!

Once inside it was a made dash to the goods...

I filled my arms quickly 

$28 dollars later here are my treasures....

 Brass easel $2

 Cross stitched Silhouettes $5 each

 .50 for a solo salt shaker....it's pretty and come on anything for 50 cents if a keeper

The little dutch house is a KLM collector. When you fly First/Business class on KLM overseas you receive these collector houses filled with liquor. They are meant to be collected not drank. We have several from our days traveling back and forth from Germany to USA. I paid $3 for this one!

Saturday Silhouette

I've been thinking about Silhouettes for some time....

I follow the blogger Nie Nie Dialogues

I love her header with the Silhouettes

I just finished reading her new book Heaven is Here

Cried and cried tears of sorrow and joy! 

Her hubby gave her a gold pair of Silhouette earrings 

one ear is hers and one is his for their anniversary! Sweet uh?

I've been pinning away on Pinterest Silhouette ideas

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. William Shakespeare's birthday is celebrated on April 23rd...when did you last read Shakespeare? What's your favorite Shakespeare play?


Last read.....long time ago! Favorite play I'm not a big Shakespeare kind of girl but I'll go with Romeo and Juliet.

2. What food(s) would you recommend a foreign visitor try when they visit your home country?

I always hated when we lived in Germany and people would come to America for the first time and they would say I hated the food. I'd ask where did you eat and their answer would be Hooters or some other chain food restaurant.  People eat so different in Foreign countries than we do here....our proportions are so large and heavier...but the variety is greater to choose from. 
I would say try Mexican food because unless your from there most people have never had good authentic Mexican food. 

3. What's a lie you often tell yourself?

It's okay to eat that you worked out hard!! 

4. What's something you're good at that might surprise us? Remember this is a family friendly blog!

Closet organizing.....okay probably not a surprise to people that know me...but I love cleaning closets and lining clothes up by colors....etc! 

5. Who is your favorite animal character from a book?

Pooh from Winnie the Pooh! 

6. April showers bring May flowers...do you have a green thumb?

Sometimes....I'm good with flower pots and hanging planters. 
I can't wait this year to plant and see some color in my yard.

7. Speaking of rainy days...which one of the following activities would you most want to spend time doing on a rainy day-

sort photos and create albums

bake cookies

read a good book

hold an all-day movie marathon

organize closets, cupboards, or bookshelves

try a new recipe

fix something that needs fixing

All of the above....
We had rain all last weekend....one day I read all day, next caught up on all my shows! I don't do it often but I loved it.

Prom dress shopping......most painful task known to motherhood! Katelyn's online choice fell through and it was a I told you so moment...not one of those biter sweet moments because there was yelling and tears involved on both parts.....but in the end a dress was found locally and on sale and fits like a glove and she looks amazing in it! I can't wait until her special day!

It's back!

Winter storm warning throughout tomorrow.....I didn't believe them! Even though the temperatures dropped and you could see your breath last night...I still had my doubts! I woke up this morning ran to the window....nothing! I knew it!

Well it's here now...slowly coming down, slowly covering the lawns. Out came the snow scrapers, out come the boots, hats, gloves, coats, shovels......powering up all electronics in case of power outages! Need to hurray to store....I'm sure there is something we need to stock up on like cookies! 

Just when I thought soup season is over.....out comes the crock pot! Turkey Chili anyone?

Hard to believe how fast this week went by...

* I've been reading the Hunger Games series....I know they are written for a teen audience, but I love them and can't wait to see the movie! For the record I loved the Twilight Series too! Yup my taste range from classics to trash I admit!

* Katelyn has been so busy lately, gone all the time....school, working and her social life is in high gear! My sister said they start pulling away late senior year almost preparing you for next years absence! It's weird to have an 18 year old now....she went from asking can I to I'am doing such and such....kinda threw me for a loop!

* Since she is so busy and as of August will be gone I'm taking over her lawn cutting chore. Last night was lesson one on the riding mower! I went into it kicking and screaming a little.....one or two passes I was loving it....so fun and easy! I turned our backyard into crop circles....hubby likes it straight and uniform...I like the opposite!

*Buffalo has had a mild winter and an okay spring but it was so nice to by in the sunny state of California, even though the weather was not the warmest...the surrounding landscape more than made up for it. Beautiful flowers, palm trees, blue ocean....blue skies! Lots of color at every turn!

* Katelyn brought home one of the best cupcakes I've ever had from work the other day....Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.....simply the best! I'm pretty sure it was fat free and made zero impact on my goal of healthier eating!

damn I'm glad I don't work or use FB that much....I think I would be okay! 

4. It's April and you know what that means-Major League Baseball is back in action. What's your favorite baseball movie? If that's too hard, what's your favorite sports themed movie?

Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner and A league of their own with Tom Hanks!

5. Something else this season brings-asparagus. Yes please or no thanks? If it's yes please what's your favorite way to have it prepared?

Yes I love asparagus......tossed with olive oil and sea salt and pepper thrown on the grill is my favorite!

Just home from our Spring break vacation to Southern California .....had such a great time. Slowly getting back to reality....! Poor Sophie girl is wiped out from the farm aka boarding! So is so skinny and tired! Any ideas how to fatten a pup up quickly?

Easter eggs....

When we were in Austria a couple years ago, I bought two hand painted eggs! I wish I had bought more but between the cost and traveling by train two was manageable. Low and behold I was shopping at my favorite small town country store....you never know what you will find! They are selling hand painted Easter eggs from Austria....shut up I know! And the price was decent so I bought two more...but now I'm thinking I should go back and get another two!
