Elizabethan Sophie
Poor poor poor Sophie! She is so embarrassed and miserable, just look at that face! Sophie is suffering from allergies and her skin is pink and itchy. She has had this problem all her life and the vets can never figure out what she is allergic to. She is seeing a specialist in dermatology ( that sounds so la dee da!) hopefully he can figure it out. She scratches do much that it breaks the skin and gets infected from her licking and scratching. But I know I'm no vet but he is treating the infection first and then we will look into the cause of the itch. Okay but it's getting infected because of the itching so doesn't it make sense to stop the itching? He does not want her on cortisone so she is being treated with antibiotics and a antihistamine. Needless to say she is walking around here like Eeyore with her head down low and a look of "why bother"! Poor Sophie!

I wonder if it is something Sophie is eating that disagrees with her? Poor dear!! Keep us posted....
She had this problem in Utah and I had her on special hypoallergetic food. I thought it was the dry climate but its moist here. I have had her on this food and she has been fine until recently. I want to think it is environment because when she was at borders while we were in Austria her skin cleared up. Maybe carpet?
We had a dog a long time ago that looked a lot like Sophie. She too had allergies, especially to the grass outside in the spring time. You may be right about the carpet. When we got rid of our carpet and went with hard wood floors, it helped out poor little pooch.
Is her breed susceptible to skin problems?
There might be some natural solutions to the itching, let's do some research!
oh, poor Sophie....i know it is embarrassing but it is for your own good....we do allergy testing on dogs all the time and they make a special vaccine, seems to help a lot...ain't cheap....you'll probably find out she is allergic to everything....arg! good luck....just read your post....probably dust mites...eww!
Oh poor baby. I saw soft cones somewhere... hmmm... where did I see them? She is a wire fox, right? Is this sort of normal for this breed to have allergies? Just curious. Hugs to Sophie. xoxo
Poor Sophie!! She looks miserable.
I'm sorry for Sophie, but wouldn't it be useful if we could get similar devices for teenagers and husbands?
Oh -- the poor old girl!
I hope she is healthy again soon. Unfortunately, allergies in dogs are very difficult to treat.
Liebe Grüße, Petra
