Sunday in My City- Happy Easter

Happy Easter!
I hope every one is having a wonderful day of celebration.
Last night many of my German neighbors celebrated Easter Saturday with a traditional Easter bonfire. My husband and I rode back from the grocery store our street was filled with smoke, my first thought was someone's house was on fire and I hope it isn't ours. The air was thick with smoke and smells of fires. Traditionally they have the fires to welcome Spring and sun, often using the wood from their Christmas tree. It is said the bigger the flame reaches the more fruitful the fields will be and the healthier the family will be. But really in todays time it's just an excuse to gather with friends and enjoy some good beer. This morning the air was still thick with the smell of smoke, I think everyone in my neighbor is celebrating the end to a long winter.
Our neighbors invited us to there bonfire but we just returned yesterday from Spring break and we are suffering jet lag something awful. But it is worth it the Easter bunny brought back Peeps and other yummy american candies from her trip and that was my breakfast of the champions!

Happy Easter/ Frohe Ostern!
Unknown Mami and her friends are showing off their cities check them out.

Welcme back to your Bloggy Home! Looking forward to your trip pics! I think your Easter breakfast is just perfect. This morning I was eyeing the Peeps on my kitchen counter and wondering if I should eat just one.....

My mom is doing great!!! Her replaced knee is coming along. Now, the other leg needs to be done but she is holding off and I do not blame her!! xoxoxo

welcome back, Frau. And "Frohe Ostern" to you and your family. We celebrated with the children today, brunched and searched easter eggs and candies hidden by the Osterhase in our yard. Today we will go to the Osterfeuer here in Delmenhorst.

A traditional Easter bonfire? That's a new one for me. I love hearing how other places celebrate.

Welcome home with all your sweets and treats! I'm just back from Spring Break too and catching up. Isn't it amazing how much things pile up when you're away?

Have a Happy Easter and get some rest after your vacation :-)

Cheers,
jj

Man we couldn't dream about lighting a bonfire here right now. But I do so love a bonfire. Mostly because it gives me an excuse to make smores.

What wonderfu memories this picture does provide. Over here in Greece people go to church at midnight to receive the "holy fire", which yearly is flown in from Jerusalem.
Please have you all a wonderful Easter Monday holiday.

That is one bonfire I'd like to sit around, beer in hand. The weather is cold and rainy here. Wishing you a joyous Easter and beautiful Spring. Glad you made it back home safely.

there some awesome things about Europe...that's one of them...we do a lot of bonfires in Oz too, but they're not really traditional. I don't know if it's even allowed over here is it?
