Tonight we are taking a break from unpacking and heading over to the neighbors for a get together. Our neighbors next door are really nice, she is from WNY and he is from Italy. They have invited us and two other families for a get to know ya outing and we are going to play some
Bocce Ball. They are big Bocce Ball players on a league and everything, I think it is big in this area, maybe an East Coast thing? My husbands work even has a league! I have played before, my parents had a set but it's been years. So tonight we learn from the WNY masters!

Bocce ball league? Impressive : ) next thing we know, you will be joining. So glad you are enjoying your time here again.
Wow, I am picturing little, old, Italian men with cigars and suspenders over white tees...
At least that is who I see playing in the parks, or is it shuffleboard?
Who needs tennis!?
LOVE your header! Also loved the picture of Niagara Falls, I showed it to Ron. Looks like you are all settling in very nicely! The neighbors really came through with the baked goods welcome! I shared some Bud Light Lime with the new young couple who moved into Joan's house! That is sort of cookie-like! Anyway, just take your time and enjoy the unpacking. I feel a garage sale is in your future, though! xoxoxo
It's such a great feeling when the neighbors come around to give a warm welcome. That means alot! :)
wow we use to play that in KB's back yard... O the good ol days :)
Hope everything is coming a long! I have been painting a ton good way to beat the heat ;)
Been gone, but now I'm back. So like reading your blog, it's like traveling w/out leaving home!
Good for you, you guys need a break! How nice to get to mingle with new friends. I think Bocce Ball is a East coast thing, your right. Have a great time and try to stay cool!
XOXO
Isn't it great to move in and find out you have wonderful neighbors?? I'm playing in a bocce tournament next weekend.
Have a blast and enjoy your break from unpacking.
how lovely! I've never played Bocce Ball - I'm sure it will be a blast. I love Italians - especially went they bring out the grappa! : )
I love it...friends of ours have a court and its lots of fun. How nice you have such welcoming neighbors. I loved your Niagara pics too...I'm behind reading blogs but am trying to catch up on a few now.
YEAH for you. The idea of neighbors actually getting together makes me homesick. That doesn't happen in LA but it does all the time in Ohio. I'm so happy for you. Have a blast.

Such lovely neighbors... sounds like true "America" to me... what a summer for you all!!
Wow a league. Have fun!
kathy, for the longest time when i lived in atlanta, i tried to find a bocce ball for my antique sports themed family room. found ONE and couldn't afford it! lol. it's an NORTHeast coastal thing for sure!!!!!
hugs!
You are so lucky to return and find a neighborhood with wonderful neighbors. Bringing gifts, inviting you to meet the other neighbors, and teaching you bocce ball to boot! I'm so envious. I hear they play mah jong on the east coast too. I loved playing it when we lived in Shanghai. Almost worth relocating for, lol.
Hope you have a blast. I am sure the version we always played at mom and dads most likely was played by dads rules. Love the new header you have on the blog.
Have fun! I have never played this game before though I always thought it looked fun!
wow, you are making friends! They sound like wonderful neighbors. NEighbors can make you so happy, when they're good and welcoming like this....
I love bocce ball! One thing about WNY the people are the nicest there...you will find everyone to be friendly! THat is great the neighbors did that. Enjoy.
Bocce Ball! I grew up playing that game at all the family picnics! My parents were the bocce ball champs in their over the hill league just last year! I found you via PVE's blog... your comment about angels got me thinking... what did that entail?
Good to hear from YOU!!!
Welcome back to the US... looking forward to your NEW adventures!
Glad you're settling in and getting acquainted!
How nice to have friendly neighbors.
Fun! So, since they're Italian, do they pronounce it Bowchee?
And BTW, your header is gorgeous, as usual, but wow--Is it fall in NY already?!
