False Alarm

We heard it was coming, the big storm! Over a foot of snow plus wind and freezing rain. Last night the TV reported all the closings as the night went on more and more popping up on the screen, all before the storm even started. Katelyn's school called around 8ish they are closed today....she was a little miffed, it's her study hall day why can't it be her double Chemistry day!

When we went to bed it was windy and lightly snowing, I woke up around 3 and peaked outside and sawing nothing coming down. It was a big fat False Alarm, just kidding...oops it missed us! We received around 3 inches and are expecting a couple more.

I know I should be happy it wasn't the BIG one, but I was kind of excited to be trapped at home with the family. Eating soup gathering around the fireplace watching the snow from the window.

This is my view instead.....the teen is still asleep...and will be for many more hours...not sure what our day will bring.....but I know I won't be trapped at home with all the milk and bread I stocked up on!

Happy Wednesday!

We got a little snow and a lot of ice which is so difficult to deal with. Hubs office is closed so I know its more than a little bit bad. I was supposed to have a dr. appt today and they called and said they're closed too. Course hubs will be on the phone all day and he likes to do this in the middle of the kitchen which upsets my normal routine in there. He said it is treacherous on the drive even though our plow guy threw some salt down yesterday in anticipation of this. We don't usually salt the drive.

Enjoy your snow day!

Yeah, I usually dismiss the dire tones of weathermen but I took this one seriously, more afraid of losing power. We had a day of sleet, but we missed most of the snow, that went just north of us. Right now a gentle few flakes are drifting from the sky, but I'm going to take PTO and stay home. There's no reason to go in.

We just got ice/rain. It was enough ice foe a 2 hour late arrival. THEN right before I was walking out the door to go to work, they called and said all schools are closed!! The roads must be pretty bad. Oh well, enjoy your day anyway!
XOXO

I agree with you that there's something kind of cool about being trapped by a snowstorm. Bummer that you're not! lol

A true winter tale. We were expecting 5 inches last night but thankfully that did not happen. I much prefer big snow to snow with ice tossed in for fun....

People drive crazy here no matter what and there are always folks in the ditch. It is not worth it!

Enjoy your snow day! xoxoxo

Loving your view!

Happy week to you.

That's great news! It's always kind of fun to NOT get the storm they're predicting! Here in Dublin it's been gale-force winds all day and whipping rain - I think I prefer the quiet, fluffy snow and doesn't exfoliate your face when you go outside! :)

oh! love your new header :)

Glad you had a false alarm. My husband just flew from Munich to Cleveland today and he just texted to tell me he arrived safely. He must have slipped in under the radar...lol.

I'm glad it missed you this time. You have been getting hit alot. It was our turn. It was on the news all night last night and all day. In our county all the roads were closed till 3pm. My friend's husband tried to get to me in the morning and made it to our subdivison but couldn't go further. Once our road got blowed at 2p he was there in a heartbeat.
The sad news is a 40 yr old guy drowned in Lake Michigan, in Chicago. It was so hard to see, he got turned around and fell in. So.. sad.

Love ya! xo

it's interesting to me - they say all but two states will have snow - is that true?

we had snow last night but today the temp is just above 0 so it's starting to melt, but icy, so my husband could barely get the car out of the driveway and up the street because of ice. oh geez i hope he makes it to work and back today!

they say it will keep warming up for a while, that would be a nice break. you know how weather reports are more accurate in general in germany? i guess i can put the shovel away.

We have had many false alarms...but I always am amazed at how the school can handle these closings, delays and also for the children too. I myself need the routine. It is nice when one's expectations are met with real zealous and not false hopes.
Try to enjoy the day - soon it will be Spring time.

I'm loving the snow pictures...especially the icicles. I think a fireplace and some coffee or cocoa is in order. Enjoy!

Sometimes I think the stores plan one or two 'fakeouts' a year just to get us all in there : )

I hope you are recovered from shoveling your roof!
