What to do?

Do you watch HGTV? I do I love all the different shows. One thing I noticed on every remodel show is they take out the brass light fixtures. So that tells me brass is out, so yesterday, dated......! Okay in my old house in Utah we had chrome or brushed nickel, but this new house is loaded with BRASS! It's about 14 years old and I think 14 years ago BRASS was IN, all the rage, what's going on! What to do...there is a lot of freaking BRASS!!

20 closets and doors ( and Hinges too)

13 light fixtures

6 Faucets and Bath Fixtures

Even if I replaced one a month, by the time I finish...Brass might be the it thing again! Could that ever happen? Maybe, after all who thought NEON anything would be popular again or ponchos!

Yeah I don't see brass making a big come back any time soon, haha. You go ahead & change them!

Hehehe. Mine is all brass too! I don't care---it goes with everything else. ;-)

Yikes! I'm feeling your pain! I changed all of mine to oil rubbed bronze...works so much better with my French country style! I am still working on the bath fixtures and a few more light fixtures. What an immediate difference it made! Now ORB better not go out of style! lol Happy week!...hugs...Debbie

I had that same problem in my last house, and because it was on everything, I gave up. The only thing I ended up doing was replacing the handles on kitchen cupboards and bathroom cabinets.

You are right : ) It must have been the in thing 14 years ago. Good call. By the time you changed it, it would be back in. Just love it : )

I feel you on this one. Don't make yourself crazy. Change where it bugs you keep it where it doesn't.

omgosh my man and i LOVE hgtv, even before we had a home, i don't know why, but every trip to america - every hotel, first thing, tv came on and we tuned into hgtv. i never saw them remove brass but i did see them tell people to de-personalize the home - get rid of most of the photos and art. we've taken that to heart - we have NOTHING on the walls here - even after 2 years. just blank white walls. but someday we'll be able to afford the art i want. i want a large cityscape of seattle showing mt rainier, and i want a photo of my man's hometown too. i fancy one of those aerial photos that pilots sell home owners too, or an enlargement of the way this house looked in the 30s so people can go "no way! your bathroom was a goat shed!"

anyway we really hated that clive guy who never did any work, just criticized.

in germany my man sometimes tells people about hgtv. the reality program where different teams compete to renovate a house with a time limit and budget. that was great! i sure do miss that channel.

i removed all the brass from this house when we moved in. i'd love to remove all the brass from my parents' modern home but they don't mind it.

You maybe could always spray paint them. xo

Ooh, good luck with this one! It can be costly. Change one room at a time? I love the brushed bronze myself.
XOXO

I love HGTV! And I'm with Melissa, I don't see brass making a comeback anytime soon, so change away!

And thinks for your sweet comment today, it meant a lot!

Brass can be quite beautiful, if you remove the protective coat seal! I watched an episode of Martha where she removed them using some kind of liquid solution !
Brass can have gorgeous Patina...but I agree, new shiny brass ca look so gaudy!

I think you should do whatever you want. If you like brass - leave it.

I'm a total HGTV addict too. I show that station.

If you like it then who cares, but if not them replace it one room at a time if that is in your budget. We have brush nickel in our new house and I love it.

I'll pass on brass.

I've been hearing that brass is coming back in a big way - you can already see mirrors and accessories reappearing in brass. So don't start changing it yet, you're way ahead of the trend! :)
