So many of you are wondering if we went to the 43 mile garage sale? We sure did, well maybe 33 miles of it! It was a bust definitely a bunch of crap.I think everyone ahead of me bought all the treasures leaving the crap for me! But I did have success that morning, I went to a garage sale before heading out and found more blue and white to add to my collection.

Even though the 43 mile garage sale was a bust it was a beautiful drive. We went through so many towns I have never been to and by the names you think we were travelling the world. We went through, Holland, Boston, Yorkstown it was a gorgeous day, the colors are starting to change. In a couple weeks I'd love to do the drive again and see the difference.
Later in the weekend with my assistance my hubby redid our corner hutch. Our kitchen has cherry wood cabinets and cherry hard wood floors. I would love something different but for now it's fine! So the corner hutch we bought from the previous owners, it fits perfect in the corner of the kitchen, but it's more cherry wood. I felt like cherry wood is taking over and wanted to bring more of the black into the kitchen. I'm really happy with the results.

To do list....

Tomorrow Katelyn and I are heading to the States. First we are going to New Jersey to visit my three sisters and their hoard of kids for a week. After that we head to Utah for two weeks to see other sister, parents and friends.

Making my list of must get....I know I need to adapt to what is available here. But life without Ibuprofen and Deodorant with antiperspirant in it, is stapes for me and totally unattainable here.
Okay and there is Skippy Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Morsels oh my the list is growing. Oh and Gossip Girl season 1, 2 and is there a 3?

Maybe some Xanex(sp?) and diet pills and anything else I can get my hands on..... !

We are really looking forward to seeing the mountains and our home, but family and friends most of all! And Target I can't lie!

Making a house a home one step at a time.....

Today I anxiously waited between 7am - 2pm for my Ikea delivery. When we moved here we shipped a lot of our favorites but not everything. You can only fit so much in a shipping container. Now that we are slowing approaching our first year here and I'm done sulking, we are trying to make this feel more like home. Our office is the first to get the much needed attention. My husband has to work with German time zone and California time zone so he spends most evenings in the office and we wave to him through the window. Our office has his desk and a built shelves, and that's was it until today.
Sophie checking out the chair and peaking out the window
Sophie helping.......

Bare bones couch

Finished product minus the legs and maybe some pillows? Is it too busy for pillows?

Finished product comfy chair

Now I've been scouring the Internet for pictures to cover the bare white walls. But I'm so happy that now I can sit in there and read or play free cell while my hubby works. Plus we don't have to hide in our bedroom when the teen has her friends over. Yay for Ikea and Yay that they deliver.

Corners and Collection

My favorite corner of our home away from home is this wall of bookshelves located in our office. It's a feeling of our home in Utah, pictures of family and friends, variety of books. A collection of travel mementos and movies, games and Nick Knacks.
One thing I have started collecting during our travels is mini plates. I love plates and these are reasonably price items to collect considering the cost of souvenirs in places like Paris and London.

What is your favorite corner of your home and what do you collect?
