Creativity needed

Our new home has four fireplaces. That's four places that I'm clueless on how to decorate. One mantel is a struggle but four is an overload. Any thoughts ideas for a overwhelmed girl?

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

You'll thank me for not giving you any decorating advice. Just ask my wife.

But 4 fireplaces? That is awesome!

Wow! Beautiful!

I tend to like something really big and not a lot of clutter....but there are others who just love a million things on a mantel. I guess it just depends on your taste.

Google "pictures of fireplaces" and you might come up with some good ideas from magazines.

And then I just googled 'things that look great on a mantel' and this came up. and clicked images.

I find it easier to copy an idea than to totally come up with one...

you know i'd put big old horse statues on all of them, but i was thinking what are you gonna do with all that german pottery - at least one mantle should have some of it, right?

i love your river rock fireplaces with insta-fire!

wow - 4 fireplaces! and they're all really pretty!

kitchen: I'd do something like a rustic type of wreath like wheat or driftwood branches hung up or one amazing piece of architectural salvage (something simple to complement the river rock) and keep the mantel empty

family room: I love the panel detail so I would likely keep it simple with maybe a repetition of 3 big white vases or something like that so the panel part isn't completely hidden (it isn't really tall enough for a big mirror or piece of art

living room: a nice round mirror would look great with all those vertical lines and paired with what you already have there, I think it would look really pretty

bedroom: a gorgeous vertical mirror with a thick white frame or even kind of venetian looking would look amazing - the details on the mantel kind of lend itself to a bit of a french look. add a bit of glass or mercury glass pieces for sparkle

whew! other than that, I'm all out of ideas! have fun!

Awesome...those are all gorgeous!

If they were mine, I'd do the following:

Kitchen: rustic fleamarket finds with kitchen theme...eg, copper pots, 'mystical' wooden implements etc

Living room: I like what you have...I'd add a large but simple "non fussy" focal point, either art, sculpture, or floral arrangement.

Bedroom : it's crying out for a series of b/w original photographs (I'd do portraits of loved ones), in various sizes with frames 'related' to each other, but not identical (ie...all black, or all white...but different otherwise.

family room : more fleamarket treasures...antique books, funky bottles, vases etc. Or, a large dried flower arrangement, along with shells, rocks, driftwood or other nature things.

Can't wait to see what you end up doing with all of your gorgeous fireplaces!!! Hope you're able to find the inspiration you need :D Best of luck to you <3

Really beautiful fireplaces. We always seem to put a clock over the fireplace & photos but I guess it is a personal choice.

I love the fireplaces. I'm no help at decorating-sorry.

Our exchange student from Germany arrived today. This is going to be a fun year.

Well, you know what I am going to say, right? Big, huge photo canvases would be delightful! : )

Or you could make a collage with 8x10's. What do you think?

4 fireplaces? Now that is a great "problem" to have! You have some great suggestions already, you are on your way.

Kathy how fun to have 4 fireplaces! I always thought it would be so romantic to have one in our bedroom. I'm excited to see what you have decided in the decorating area. xo

Holy cow! Well, I'd use greenery (pine bows during the holidays) on the first one, a painting on the family room, and now that I'm commenting, I can't see them anymore, so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
