Fixin up some grub....

For this little one.....we affectionally now call Itchyroo aka Sophie! Here she is KO cuddling one of her babies, can you see her little pink skin? It's starting up again.....here itching, biting herself and licking her toes.....! We have had her on so many foods and medicine and it always comes back! The last was a grain free food my MIL recommended and it seem to work but she had the worse gas you have ever experienced. But the itching has started again so this time after emailing with a fellow blogger with the same breed of dogs with the same problem she makes her own food and it has made a huge difference.

The internet is a beautiful thing but there is too much info out there. My blogger friend Ina recommended this book, The Barker's Grub by Rudy Edalati

It arrived yesterday, so this is my new Betty Crocker Cookbook chuck full of recipes that any pooch should love! I laughed skimming through the book with funny names like:
Moon Dog Mix
Juju Chicken and Rice
Sweet Woody Turkey and Oatmeal
Lo Mein Barking Style
Liver Love
Winter Comfort food
Davie's Wiggly Jiggly Anemia Diet

And so on....So far I have been feeding her chicken, brown rice and peas and carrots....she does back flips for it! I hope this helps her !

Just dropped a chunk of money (again) at the vet to help ease our pups itching. She upped the dosage on her antihistamine and it has helped. We realized she'd gained weight since the original prescription so she wasn't getting enough. Its worse this time of year but my skin is dry and itchy too.

Allergies are so hard to break down on us, it has to be double on our animals. Miss S reminds me so much of Kelly. She was a Lakeland, but I believe she is a distant cousin of the Fox. LOL... I hope she is on the right track. xo

Ohhh...so sorry your sweet doggie is having problems! I have several blogger friends who always make their own. I have wondered if I should stat that for my feline staff. It has to be so much healthier! I hope you are having a great week!...hugs...Debbie

Oh I hope this works, and I think it will. I have that same book and I LOVE it. I have been making Stella's food for about 4 years now. Since that dog-food recall a few years ago, I haven't given her any store bought dog-food. I usually feed her either brown rice or pasta, beef or chicken and peas or carrots. I also read you should give a tums for calcium, but I haven't done that yet. She also LOVES ravioli whenever I make it. Just NO onions, raisins, or chocolate!!!! Good luck!
XOXO

Oh, poor thing.

I didn't realize they have cookbooks for dog food.

By the way, I love the rabbit paper cutting on your header. :)

That's such a cool cookbook for you and of course, Sophie. My Sam started itching a few months ago to a point of being miserable. I tried different shampoos and conditioners and what worked for him was the apple cider vinegar rinse. He still itches but not as bad as before.

My dogs really enjoy the recipes in the book. I have made them Rudy's Beet Stew (they get very excited when they see me dish it out) and I made the Basic Vegetarian Cookie Recipe for them and for the neighborhood dogs for Christmas-- all the dogs gave 2 paws up! Enjoy experimenting! I love cooking for my pups! xoxo
