Pumpkins

We finally went and bought our carving pumpkins this weekend...
One thing I do like about living rurally is all the farmers...
You have your pick at every corner....

And the prices and selection are like none other...
These are called peanut squash...outside looks and feels like peanut shells...$2.50 each.
Not sure what you do with them but I thought they were cool.

Then there is the bumpy pumpkins for $2.50 each....

My favorite the goose neck gourds for $3.50
I'm going back for a couple and dry them out...
I guess it takes a year to dry them, then who knows maybe paint them...

Not sure what kind of gourds these are snake gourds...they were a little creepy.....

Katelyn drilling her pumpkin, idea seen on Pinterest....

Craig is putting the finishing touches on his pumpkin...

Tadaaaaaaaaa...mines the owl one...but I was only aloud to trace owl on pumpkin
apparently I'm not good with knives.

Happy Monday!!

How creative. My son came home with a pumpkin he paid $16.00 - he thought it was "good" price!!! Carved "jets" into it... cute and made him happy.... Did you make pumpkin seeds????

Gorgeous pumpkins! I like how you can get your family all on one page (and together) to do stuff! That is a talent I never was able to accomplish. Sad but true.

Those snake gourds are indeed creepy!!! Never saw one of those before! xo

I've decided not to carve mine this year, I'm just going to decorate them.

Yeah, those snake gords looks very creepy!

What artists all of you! I love your pics, as usual. Love the peanut pumpkins and snakes. How great they would be in a tree like they are pictured with lights shining up at them at night. Spooky. :)

Also, you are most welcome for the kit. It was my pleasure but I meant to at least wrap it nicer for you and add a note. I was at the mail center mailing something else and meant to buy a box only then come back home and write a note etc. but since I also happened to have your address with me, I thought I'd better just get it out to you then or it would be another day and I was already later in mailing than I wanted to be, so, I'm sorry it was such a sterile package. It didn't dawn on me until I got home that I didn't include a note. So not my style! lol!

Have a good week! Done with those essays yet? ;)

I enjoyed pictures of your family working on the pumpkins, it felt festive and the results were just wonderful. I love your owl. I have dried gourds on the shelf, we bought them in the US, let's see where were we, I can't remember, there was an Indian Native museum, I wonder why I can't remember where. Anyways, they are beautiful as they are not painted.

These are awesome, Kathy!

We don't get pumpkins that big here and even if we do, I'm pretty sure the price wouldn't be as good as the one you have over there.

I always love your pictures!

The pumpkins look great. I like owls, so I think yours might be my favourite. :)

Your pumpkin prices are amazing!!!! I went shopping for pumpkins today-- The ones your size at the pumpkin patch were a whopping $35 each! (And I'm not kidding!). I ended up with $5.99 average sized ones from the grocery story-- but it took me three stores to even find them!

Anyway, long story short. I LOVE YOUR PUMPKINS (and yes I'm screaming :-) They turned out fantastic.
