On Friday we are heading to Oslo, Norway for the Summer Solstice. We are hoping to officially start summer in Norway, hopefully there will be more signs of summer there than in Germany. I would like to see and feel the sun and perhaps not have rain, I'm willing to wear a sweater that's my compromise!
I'm excited to see many things but the one place I'm most excited is Vigeland Sculpture Park. The park covers 80 acres and features 212 bronze and granite sculptures created by Gustav Vigeland. Vigeland personally sculpted every figure out of clay and individual craftsmen were contracted to fabricate the pieces into what they are today. These works of art reside along an 850 meter-long axis divided into six sections: The Main Gate, The Bridge, The Children’s Playground, The Fountain, The Monolith Plateau and the Wheel of Life.
I'm looking forward to a mini vacay, and spend some quality time with the family. Summer is officially starting for the West Family Friday do I hear a woo hoo!!

Have a great time in Norway, it sounds so wonderful. I would love to go sometime. Those sculptures are so beautiful! Have a great night, and we are sick of rain too!
XOXO
Oh yeah! Woo hoo! Have a wonderful time. I love those sculptures. Never heard of them before...
Hope you have a great trip! We are finally getting a taste of summer in England. I will miss the cool, rainy summers when I am roasting in Texas!
Hope you guys have a wonderful trip. It sounds exciting.

WOO HOO!!! The sculptures look fantastic!! Be prepared for 24/7 daylight!! Enjoy, and I look forward to seeing many wonderful photos! xoxo
Oooooh I soooo ENVY you... little small trips through Europe... le sigh!
Seeing that N'way is north of Germany, what do you think your chances are of seeing the sun? Let me tell you it hasn't been much better here in 'the southland.' We are past the June Gloom. It is just yucky day in and day out. I just read that with the lack of sun activity that all northern latitudes will have a very mild summer. Two words - Spray. Tan. Have a wonderful trip and take lots of pics for us to see. :)
Enjoy the Vacay. Germany seem like NY right now. We've had so much rain it's nutty.
I have to say it is so cool reading your blog. I wish I could travel more and spend more time living with people of other cultures.
Have a great time!
The weather has actually been gorgeous here, until yesterday when it started to rain. But before that it was lovely. Obviously you're in the wrong part of Germany ;-)
wow...luckyduck!!! have a wonderful time and take pictures for us to see!
Sounds like a fantastic trip. Keep us updated -- and have fun!
Yahoo.... for summer in your home on Friday and a mini vacation. You lucky girl! Yesterday was gorgeous, but a tease because we are supose to have more rain the next couple of days.
Kathy- Kelly use to LOVE the water, and her car rides, but now a days loves to sleep, stay home and still eat (a good thing). In her younger days she would have had a ball at the graduation party. This is the part of the road when things are settling down for her. On the evenings when there isn't no rain we take her to the forest preserves to walk a bit on the grass and sit by the picnic tables. The dog park she doesn't enjoy anymore. I'm sure it has to be frightening at this stage for her. Last night after our walk in the grass, she came home to her doggy ice cream and enjoyed every lick of the bowl.
Have a golden day! xoxo
London is beautiful at the moment, some showers but mainly sunshine.
Enjoy.
So cool! How far away is Norway from where you live? I hope you have a good time.
Have a great time! I hope the sun shines so you can really get a good look at those sculptures!
And warm yourself, of course.
Woop Woop!!! How cool are those statues. Take lots of pics Summer is not here yet!
Have a great time - woo hoo!! Happy Solstice! xoxo
I'm part Norweigan so if you run into anyone with the last name Olson, say hi for me!
That sculpture is awesome...and a little dirty. I like it!
I hope you have a fantastic time. That sounds like so much fun.
Cool statue.
Nice blog too.
Woo Hoo!!!!
As a local I welcome you to Oslo! The Vigeland park is in fact the world's largest park with sculptures made by only one person. Enjoy! Make sure also you catch the free outdoor concert by the city hall friday night :-) All the best!
