Happy Birthday America

This is the first year not celebrating July 4th in America. I really missed the traditions, the decorations, the patriotism everywhere you look. But I especially missed celebrating with my best friend and her family. We have spent many 4ths together having a BBQ and watching fireworks. Last year my Husband was returning from Germany to help us pack. But his plane had a emergency landing in Scotland, and he missed the festivities. I 've spent today doing my normal Saturday chores etc.. but all along thinking of the meaning of today. Remembering our celebrations with friends and thankful for everything and everyone, but especially for our freedom. Happy 4th of July.

Hi Frau and Happy 4th to you. I am sure it felt weird not to be celebrating this fun holiday and doing chores.

I had so many fun plans today but just vegged out on my sunny deck. The carrot cake with the expired 1/2 cup canola oil was super yummy and did not hurt anyone but I did toss out the old oil and bought a smaller bottle since now it it just me and Ron at home. I am going to be more careful about expiration dates on products.

It must be tough to be in the mood for the fourth in Germany. Freedom is an amazing thing.

Happy 4th! We will see if we can at least get some sparklers for when you come to visit!

I hope you were able to have cookies and beer (well maybe not together) to celebrate from afar. We actually celebrated the 3rd, our town had the fireworks that day instead of the 4th probably to give all the partiers an extra day of rest. Hugs... xoxo

this is the first year I did not spend it with any family at all including my kid. It was sad but I really did relax for the first time in a whiel. Happy Fourth

Happy Independence Day late to you!

We got totally rained out. Ended up watching "True Lies" instead. LOL

Hope your day was fun even without the fireworks and traditions. When I first moved away from home I spent MANY holidays without family and friends. It's a change but one that allows you to invent new traditions. xo

Hope you had a happy 4th! I'm sure you were much cooler than those of us here in the southern states where watching fireworks became a spectator sport to see who might pass out first!

Hope you enjoyed your 4th even if you were really far from home.
