My city this Sunday is New York City, New York.
When I visit my family in NJ we always make a trip into the city....NYC
I love NYC, the hustle, the history, the sites, the people and most of all
the FOOD!
My sister took us to EATALY it's the quintessential of NYC. Located on 200 5th Ave, you walk in and you're taken back...it's huge, it's like no other. Their saying is "We cook what we sell and sell what we cook". You can shop there and people were, you can grab a coffee and amazing dessert, glass of wine and appetizer, they have a beer garden, Pizza and Pasta restaurant, a cooking school and so much more.
The idea is to experience it all, so go to one area have your cocktail and appetizer, head to another choice dinning area and have a meal, followed up by amazing desserts and coffee. Afterwards work off your meal by shopping for fresh cheeses, homemade pasta, kitchen gadgets, meats and fish....amazing breads plus huge selection of Olive Oils and wines.
It was much better being there with someone that already knew how to do it, but if not there all plenty of helpful employees on hand for questions. Even if you don't eat there it's worth a stop just to see and experience.
My sister knows the young man that is the Chief Olive Oil Specialist at EATALY, Nick Coleman. He gave us a tasting in Olive Oils it was so educational and informative. Such a difference in good olive oils, like paring a fine wine. I never really thought about the difference in good Olive Oils until listening to Nick, he really knows his stuff. For more of Nick's insight on Olive Oil read this article from The Daily Meal....Gourmet Olive Oils Uncovered.
If you are ever in NYC stop by EATALY is a one of kind place!
Have a wonderful Sunday
Be sure to stop by UNKNOWN MAMI for more Sunday in the City

Next time I'm in NYC I'll be checking it out! Looks like fun!
Eataly sounds fabulous! What a cool idea for a market and restaurant.
I think it most unlikely that I'll ever be able to get to NY but if I do, thats the first place I'll head for!
Love to hear about other peoples' places.

Is Eataly a new spot in NYC? I don't remember seeing it when we would visit. It sounds amazing. Like a progressive dinner - all under one roof! And an Olive Oil specialist? Who knew?

How fun! I'm glad you spoke about the olive oils. I have been meaning to learn more about them. Marking this place on my "Have to Visit" list. Thanks!
Doesn't NYC have the best places?! Definitely on my must-visit list next time I'm there :)
I am hoping to get to NYC in november for a girls trip. We will have to try this out!
We had a place like this here--wonderful! A nice bottle of olive oil makes a beautiful gift, too!
I would gladly eat my way through there.
Still haven't been although it's been on my list since we got here. I'm sure we'll make it there eventually...glad you had a good time!
