It's Friday....

Hosted by Mrs. 4444's

Well it's been a week since we dropped off Katelyn, we have all survived! I have to say I miss her like crazy, but thanks to technology we text, call and Skype! She is making lots of friends and likes her classes and professors so far.
Girls from her floor almost all are either PA majors or in Science field...so they are in a lot of the same classes.

I haven't had a cupcake in two weeks, since Katelyn quit working at the shop....one would think the scale would reflect! Maybe cupcakes aren't responsible for the last 10lbs I gained!

It's been an adjustment cooking for two and shopping for two. I had to pour a gallon of milk out that expired, apparently Katelyn was the only milk drinker in the family. We seem to be going through less milk and more wine...weird!

Sophie started her anti anxiety medicine yesterday...her separation anxiety has gotten worse and worse. I've tried everything and really hate to resort to medicine. If it makes her feel better than it's worth a try....if it doesn't work I'll be taking her meds to deal with a violently shaking, crying pup!

My hubby ask what do you want to do this weekend on our first weekend of empty nest? I answered, wash the windows! He just looked at me "really"! Please I have a list of "honey do's" a mile long...two years in the making! Not sure if the windows will happen but we are doin something!

Have a beautiful weekend! Happy Friday!

That's funny about the milk--J3 is the only real milk drinker in our house, although J4 would go in chocolate milk spurts. I threw out what was left in the last gallon in the fridge about a week ago.

When my girls went to college I had a hard time not feeling envious of all the fun they were having, all the new things they got to do and the new people they got to meet. Anything seems possible!

My stepdaughter went off to college last weekend. She didn't live with us but it was still tearful. We've have actually heard from her more this first week she's been away though than we ever did when she lived close. She has called my husband every day since she's been there. He's loving it!

More wine and less milk makes for a more romantic household I hope.

Laundry becomes a little tricky too...with no girls in the house changing 3x a day there is much less.

I'm glad she's enjoying college life!

Poor Sophie. I agree, if the meds help her then do it. You can always ween her off them in the future and see how she does.

Wash the windows? Really? Kathy, you can be so much more creative than that. LOL

My freezer is so full of leftovers with one less in the house. The grocery bill goes way down.

Katelyn is adjust well and so are you. I'm so sorry that Sophie is having problems. I hope the medicine helps her feel better. She doesn't have to be on it forever.

Sounds like everyone is adjusting into the new routine except poor Sophie. I think this weekend calls for extra treats for Sophie, a bottle of wine and a romantic dinner for two AND forget the windows!! :) xo

My daughter moved in last week for her sophomore year and we are adjusting to the quiet too. Leslie recommended I visit your blog. I am now following and look forward to reading about your empty nest life :-)

Windows??? NOOOO!!!

Glad to see Katelyn is settling in so well. And the girls all look like they are nice girls too.

Now for you..... I would say, go to Barnes and Noble, get the Eat to Live book, have a nice goblet (or 2) with your hubby, walk with him and Sophie, and just enjoy the space. I am sure it is hard but this adjustment period will pass my friend. Keep your spirits up. And the windows... do them next week. xoxo

Windows? I want to party with you!
Actually, windows and a fine chardonay might work...

Glad to know Katelyn's keeping in touch and is enjoying school.

No cupcakes?! I hope you don't waste away!! :)

Don't tell Kyle, but I kinda love the huge drop in laundry when he goes back to school.

Poor Sophie. I hope she feels much better right away.

I hope you and the hubs had a great weekend :)

I can't Imagine that day when I will only cooking for two. We will either gain a ton of weight, throw a ton of food away, or eat out every night .

love the new look here....and anytime you need milk or wine...or a little support....letting go is very transformative. We spend so much time with our children and then letting them go off to college seems almost criminal.
