To Market we go...

Germany does Christmas Markets the best hands down! No Market in the world could compare...the atmosphere, music, food, spiced hot wine, gifts the experience alone is priceless.
Yes I miss the markets the most about Germany especially this time of year. Here is me last year enjoying some Gluhwein. Ahhh! to me that is Christmas!

And the year before....
When we were in NYC we went to the Union Square Holiday Market. It was great, amazing gifts and the hussle and bussle of NYC. But there was no Gluhwein or German little donuts or groups gathering enjoying the holiday season. Don't get me wrong it was nice to have and it put me in the holiday mood. But it let me longing for a real Christmas Market! and some Hot spiced wine!

Those pretzels are as big as your head! The market looks like so much fun. Makes me want to make mulled cider today.

The Markets look wonderful! I am sure my Christmas spirit is lurking around here, somewhere! Is it me or did this past year just fly by?

You seem to be happy with being back in the USA. Do you miss anything about Germany at all?

The markets here are the BEST..if I left here I would for sure and miss those. You know what I miss about being in the U.S. at christmas time? all of the beautiful lights and displays!! In Oregon there was an entire section of neighborhoods that decorated to the max each year. We'd pop a ton of popcorn, dump it in a brown bag,and we'd drive through the long lines and look at it all..noone decorates like the U.S. :)

They call them "big ass" pretzels for a reason.... lol!!!! Also, I LOVE Fishs Eddy! I once found dinner plates from my fave diner there. We call them the "formal dishware."

what a shame that the help portrait in your area turned you away.....
our group will stay together for next year...we're already talking about our plans, but we would never turn anyone away who wanted to help.

You know, your post makes me a little home sick for the markets and all....
But we went yesterday to the Christmas bazaar at the German School around here and it was great fun, Gluehwein and all!
I know Fishs Eddy, a great shop, when I first lived in the city, I bought a lot of good stuff there!
Do you have a Trader Joe's around where you live? They carry some German holiday cookies and Lebkuchen...
By the way, I read about Sophie's coat change and found it so interesting. No explanation though....
Love all the pictures of your house and garden.... so pretty! We bought our tree today!!!
Happy holidays!

xoxo Victoria

So sorry you're missing celebrating Christmas in Germany.

I'm sure that it's starting to feel like home, right?

Loved the pictures!

I met some friends in Germany this weekend...I love the markets and the atmosphere and of course the gluwhein! The snow and the stalls and the festive atmosphere definitely help stir up the Christmas spirit which has been a little bit lacking for me this year.

I'll take a dozen of the gingerbread cookies, 1 big ass pretzel and a gallon of spiced wine!
Looks like so much fun!

Those are some big ass pretzels, indeed. You make me long for German Christmas markets and I've never even been to one.

LOL@big ass pretzels! I don't think I've ever been a real Christmas market - in Germany or NY or anywhere. I'd be happy to, though! Looks like fun.
