This weekend I'm
Heading to the hills with my pockets full of one dollar bills, sturdy shoes and an empty backpack. Where I'm I going? To the WORLD'S Largest Garage Sale.....in Warrensburg, NY! Oh yeah I'm super excited, I'm meeting my sister and her hubby, and the search for treasures is on. They have a place not far in Schroon lake, NY. I'm excited to see them and all the fall colors along the way. I can't wait to share all my finds with you on Monday!

Black and White Wednesday-Kate
My baby teenager has her permit! She is really excited to get behind the wheel and drive. I'm really scared, not because I don't think she will be a good driver. I'm scared about being on the road and teaching her, I'm scared about all the others on the road. I'm scared she is growing up and be coming independent, I'm scared because she is no longer my baby but a young adult. I love her with all my heart so driving starts soon not today but soon!
Join Lisa at The Long road to China for more black and white Wednesday!

So many of you are wondering if we went to the 43 mile garage sale? We sure did, well maybe 33 miles of it! It was a bust definitely a bunch of crap.I think everyone ahead of me bought all the treasures leaving the crap for me! But I did have success that morning, I went to a garage sale before heading out and found more blue and white to add to my collection.
Even though the 43 mile garage sale was a bust it was a beautiful drive. We went through so many towns I have never been to and by the names you think we were travelling the world. We went through, Holland, Boston, Yorkstown it was a gorgeous day, the colors are starting to change. In a couple weeks I'd love to do the drive again and see the difference.
Later in the weekend with my assistance my hubby redid our corner hutch. Our kitchen has cherry wood cabinets and cherry hard wood floors. I would love something different but for now it's fine! So the corner hutch we bought from the previous owners, it fits perfect in the corner of the kitchen, but it's more cherry wood. I felt like cherry wood is taking over and wanted to bring more of the black into the kitchen. I'm really happy with the results.

Friday Fragments
Hello Friday!!
I'm joining one of my favorite bloggers for Fragment Fridays-Mrs. 4444's at Half -past kissin time
I'm so happy it's Friday....hubby comes home today from business trip...I really missed him! My daughter will hopefully not have homework to do today and we can have some fun.
I think fall is here, in fact it feels like winter. I'm actually thinking about turning the heat on....yesterday I went from camping by the fireplace to under a blanket pretty much all day.
Last weekend I watched my neighbor across the street feverishly work all day closing his pool and bringing in all his outdoor pots and yard ornaments. I started to panic like he knew something I didn't....what farmers almanac did he have in his possession? Several of my husbands work colleagues took time off to winterize their homes...omg! Does putting my summer clothes in totes and pulling a few sweaters out count as winterizing?
There is a 43 mile garage sale going on tomorrow in the next county over from us! I really want to go!!
43 miles of either a lot of treasure or a lot of crap..still want to go!
Does anyone else have a hard time going from flip flops and sandals to wearing socks and shoes again?
My socks are driving me batty!
Speaking of batty, does cob webs count as Halloween decorations? If yes than I'm ahead of the game and I'm not cleaning my house til after Halloween! Also does Starbucks Pumpkin Latte count as a vegetable serving? Just trying to plan my weight watchers day 5 serving of fruit and veggies!
Have a wonderful weekend!

The Doctor...
It's no secret I need to lose weight. The move to Germany was a huge life change for me. Now back on America soil I have a lot of work ahead, undoing the damage I did in the last two years. I really thought just being back and happy would be enough! Silly I know, but apparently it takes more than an address change to lose weight.
I watched the Dr.OZ show the other day and his message was if Americans would just lose 10lbs this year how much healthier they would be. Dr. Oz and his panel of experts made it sound so easy.
Five Commandments
1. replace soda with water
2. eat nothing after 8 pm
3. move for at least 10 minutes a day
4. no snack larger than fist
5. track your weight everyday
I think if seems easy enough to do, their method is the start for people like me that have a lot to lose. The idea is you will feel better and in turn move more than 10 minutes a day, eat better and in return lose more weight.
For me it's doing things different than I've done for the last two years, we all know what we can change in our lives to live healthier. For me it's not falling into my old pattern, it's enjoying the things you love in moderation.
For me it is time to take control of my health, yes I'd like to look better in my jeans and have the scale say something besides ouch when I step on it! For me my focus is change like the change of a season.
I'm gonna listen to Dr. Oz and his friends, I joined Weight Watchers and signed up for a Zumba class once a week. I've dusted off the sneakers, squeezed into the spandex, ate my last candy corn and I'm looking forward to the change.

Barn sale gone wrong !
A few weeks ago we went for a drive to Warsaw, NY. Just outside Warsaw we came upon a barn sale....and of coarse I screamed stop the car! We pulled up and parked on the grass with the rest of the country folks, and started looking. I found something right off, some things were marked most wasn't. I asked the farmer how much and he looks at it and says that's not for sale, where did you find that? Okay calm down I thought...seriously it was like a junk yard and somehow everything that was not perfectly lined up was not for sale today! We continued to look and look....found some stuff. In the mean time Katelyn decides to take a picture of us ohh and ahhing things and a picture or two of the lined up crap treasures for sale. Here is when things went wrong...country style!
Farmer marches over and ask Katelyn to please stop taking pictures. She like, the nice girl she is does, and said sorry. Farmer is not satisfied with that and says people have been doing that all day, it takes a lot of gall to come on someones private property and take pictures. I jumped in and said, you are having a sale it's not like we walk on your property by having the sale you invite people on. I told him we mean no disrespect to him. My husband jumped in and commented that it's unique for us and that is why she photographed it. Farmer was pissed off, watched us like a hawk and I'm pretty sure the prices doubled.
I often want to stop and take pictures of some thing I see from the road, is it a violation of privacy from the road? Should I ask permission if I'm not entering their property?
So you know when you piss off a farmer at a barn sale...in your mind you think...I'm so blogging about this!!

My Junior
Katelyn started her Junior year today! New school, new year, first time in a big school... lots of nervousness! As a Mom I feel her pain and anxiousness, I know it's hard to be the new kid, first time in a large school, all the unknowns. You try to give advice and ease their minds but lets face it teens think we know nothing and are clueless! I really hope she has a great first day and meets lots of nice kids!

Versatile Blogging
Sincerely Shannon passed The Versatile Blogger Award to me! I'm suppose to write 7 Things about my self and pass on to 7 Bloggers. Well I'm a rule breaker so I'm going to do what Shannon did and answer 7 questions about myself.
What has been your favorite vacation?
This is an easy one, last October we spent 10 days in Italy, 5 in Rome and 5 in Florence.
I loved the food, wine and sights it was our best Europe trip to date.
What is your favorite meal to cook for company?
This is a hard one.....I'm not confident in my cooking so I'm always nervous company will like or not. But So far I've had no complaints about Brown Butter Tortellini with Chicken.
What is your favorite fashion accessory (i.e shoes, handbags, scarves, earrings, etc.)?
Definitely scarves I must own 30 of them. Nothing beat the chill of Germany like a Scarf!
What is your favorite room in your house?
Right now my living room, it's the only room completely done. It feels comfortable and like home. The rest of my rooms are still in an unsettled mode.
If you could go back to college (for fun) what would you study?
I think Art History.
What's one talent or skill do you wish you possessed or were better at?
Singing for sure maybe dance too. I love watching shows like Glee and American Idol, Dancing with stars etc.. But I have two left feet and can't hold a note!
What's your favorite thing to give as a gift?
I kinda suck at creativity so I usually do gift cards. But I really try to think about the person but end up panicking and grab a GC it's safe.
I'm suppose to pass on to 7 bloggers but I'm a rule breaker so play along if you want.
Thanks Shannon for the Award...

My parents are here visiting, so we hoped in the car and headed to Canada. Less than an hour away is Niagara Falls and Niagara on the lake, in Ontario Canada. We spent time walking around Niagara on the lake, gorgeous quaint town with streets line with amazing flowers, shops and restaurants. If you love wine, Niagara on the lake is home to many wineries, B&B's and the famous Shaw Theatre.
We ended the day with a quick trip to Niagara Falls, it was crowded and hot. The mist of the falls felt good and look amazing.
Gorgeous uh?

don't chaa wish...
Don't chaa wish you lived in Hollywood, and possibly be famous and funny too? Well what's the next best thing..knowing someone that is!
Suzy Soro from HOLLYWOOD: Where Hot Comes to Die is that girl. I have never personally met her but if you follow her blog and twitter you feel like you know her. She is a stand up comic and actor, seen on Seinfeld and Curb your Enthusiasm. She is funny and makes me laugh.
Suzy also has a really cool T-shirt, if you buy one and send her a picture she will feature you on her side bar. It's like your own 5 minutes to fame. I have to say the first time Suzy commented on my blog I bragged a bit just to family and friends of coarse. Hey she's famous you would too!
So back to my 5 minutes of fame... my sister Preppy Player and I are Suzy's September sidebar. Not the best picture of the two of us but we look cute in our T's!

It's all a blur...
September already....the summer is a blur! We are pretty much all unpacked and settled. There still is a basement full of boxes of old stuff and holiday decor that needs a overhaul. It's starting to feel like our home. Now that it's September, school starts next week and I feel like it is the first day of our new life here. Time to get in a routine, exercise and look for a new job!
My parents are here visiting, it's been over a year since we have seen them. So in the mean time we are enjoying our last week of summer with them. Showing and learning what Western New York has to offer. Yesterday we went to Niagara on the lake and Niagara Falls in Ontario Canada. Gorgeous place but a really warm and humid day.
Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Labor Day weekend!
