Katelyn ♥

I really love this girl
She is the best daughter
She is a hard worker
She makes us really proud

Yesterday was Katelyn's Junior Academic Award Ceremony. She told us not to come, little did she know her School Counselor called us weeks ago and told us to come and keep quiet that Katelyn was nominated for an award. I'm usually not the best secret keeper....but I did it...woot woot!
She was totally shocked when they called her name and even more surprised to see us in the auditorium.
I loved the look on her face....it was priceless!

She won the Student Sage Award for academic achievement, it's a scholarship to Sage Collage in Albany for $60,000 over four years. Wow we are excited, the only kicker is Katelyn knows what she wants to do and this school doesn't have her program. But we will still tour the school and keep this in the back pocket. Her Physician Assistant program is highly competitive so you never know it's nice to have options.

It was a proud day to be her parents. Her AP History teacher stopped us and complimented her hard work this year and praised her. All her efforts and sacrifices have really paid off and she sees that.
I'm happy summer is almost here my girl needs some rest....like all the kids out there!

Happy Saturday and Have a wonderful weekend!

and the teachers, the teachers need a rest too - it's the only one they actually get. my husband works every evening and every weekend grading papers and preparing lessons. i feel so bad for him that he never gets a day off, and at the same time i feel for katelyn because i remember that time in my life when i always had homework to do, and rarely enjoyed a day without it. in germany summer vacation is quite short--6 weeks, due to the lengthy christmas and easter breaks. but we are looking forward.

i went to my first garage sale in germany today and got two wine glasses for 50 cents, and a book for 50 cents. i also saw a set of blue and white dishes and tea sets that you would have bought - it was only 6E! i am so sorry you were not there today! now i need to find out how to find more garage sales in germany...

This is wonderful. Congratulations to all of you. I know how much work those AP classes take and the competition for scholarships is also very stiff. What a wonderful accomplishment for Katelyn. I think you're going to have a great weekend!

Continue to be Katelyn's best advocate! Support her, guide her and always ask for more....be sure to ask the schools that do have her program for matching grants and gifts. We are finding out all you have to do is ask.
Our son, his scholarship was transferable to the University he will attend. It is hard work for these students but they need to know it is all about asking.
Congrats to Katelyn!!! (and to her proud parents!)
