Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Summer's here-whoohoo! What's your favorite sight, sound, AND smell associated with summer?

Sight that most reminds me of summer would be the American Flag flying  people decorating for July 4th. The sounds kids splashing in the pool next door. I miss having a pool. The smell that makes me think of summer sun tan lotion.

2. Fireflies or lightning bugs...what are they called in your neck of the woods?

Lightening bugs...I have fond childhood memories in NJ catching them in a jar!

3. What is something from the past week that reminded you of your childhood?

Seeing the little kids waiting for the bus in shorts and all full of energy. I remember the feeling that school is almost over and hardly containing myself with excitement of lazy summer days!

4. Define 'the good life'.

A healthy , happy family together sharing laughter, stories good times....that's my idea of the good life!

5. Tell us what we'd see if you took a snapshot of your desk/work space?

Piles of things to be filed, piles of pictures to be hung, a room that needs painting!

6. Peaches or watermelon...yes, you have to choose.

Peaches (great now I'm thinking of cobblers! Yum)

7. Ever been skinny dippin'? Is that too much for the Wednesday Hodgepodge? Rest assured we won't need details...unless of course you feel you must but remember, this is a family friendly blog so keep it G rated.

A guy at my gym had a t-shirt on last week a laughed and laughed when I saw it. It read-
I don't skinny dip
I chunky dunk!!

Pretty funny! Lets just leave it at that!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

A year ago this weekend we moved back to States....one hand it seems so long ago that we lived in Germany and on another hand it's hard to believe we have been here a year. We are still trying to make this place feel more like ours and less like the previous owners, there is still so much I want to do and really thought by now it would be done. I still feel like I'm getting adjusted to here and discovering new things and places around here!

Stop by Joyce's at From This Side of the Pond and join today's Hodgepodge!

We called them lightning bugs too, and we caught them in jars as well!

I love your good life idea!

We've been here almost two and its finally feeling like home : )

Lots of folks today say they don't have lightning bugs in their part of the country...who knew? I thought they were everywhere.

I can't believe it has been a year : ) WOW! That flew. I think you have done a great job of adjusting.

PS Me too about chunky dunking : ) No skinny dipping for me!

We called them lightning bugs too. It's been many years since I've tried catching one.

I like the smell of freshly cut grass.

The good life would be retirement. But for now, it's good health and happiness.

Our desk is usually a mess. Things just pile up on it before we finally get around to putting things where they belong.

Peaches for sure. Especially in a cobbler.

Nope, never been skinny dipping.

One of the reasons I initially started following you is that I was trying to connect with people from different parts of the world. I was trying to learn about different lifestyles and cultures. I enjoyed reading about Germany and seeing the pictures. Then you went and moved back here on me. LOL But it's all good. Now I'm learning about New York.

I can't believe you've been back for a year! Wow! Does it seem like a year to you? And yes. We had lightning bugs in my childhood town in NJ, too. What NJ town were you in?

Cobbler! Sounds great. It takes a while to turn a house into a home. Take your time, it will be fine.

I think I called them fireflys. I can't remember. It's been so long since I've been in a place that had some.

chunky dip haha. :) It was so fun to read your answers - I love summer too!

A year - wow time does fly! We've been here a year on the 29th - I remember well when you and I were both getting ready to leave our overseas homes at the same time. I miss Australia (a LOT sometimes boohoo) however I love being back to things like the 4th of July! and it seems you do too!

Enjoy those peaches - even though watermelon seems more 4th of Julyish I'd choose peaches too. Did you make the cobbler??

It certainly can take some time to adjust, especially when moving from Europe to the states.

Love the pictures in the header. Very nice!
