Sundays In My City-Flea Market

Yesterday I went to our flea market along the Weser River. It's there every Saturday, mostly it's a bunch of crap mixed with a few treasures. Yesterday was gorgeous 70 degree day sun shinning and lots of people. Above the river embankment is the Beer Garden - Schlachte, it was full of vendors selling new goods, food, drinks and a Country Western band was playing and lots of people were line dancing. The city was full of energy. Germans are fascinated with all things Western. After I shopped I sat in the beer garden, had a beer and brat wurst and soaked up the sun and culture.  It was certainly the place to be!

Your description of a lot of crap with a few treasures is perfect; sounds like every flea market I've ever been to :) Still, the energy of it all sounds fun--great description.

If you gave me a choice between a big diamond ring or going to flea markets I would always take the latter.

i love what you found...just think...real antiques directly from Europe. they will be a nice trophy on your wall in your new home.

i think i'd much rather a relaxing stroll thru and german market & bier garten than the streets of ny...but it does have pluses. there is a market several times a year the block down from our church on Sundays...but this one was in times square right outside m&m world...we really scored that day. hope you come down for a visit!!!

Great finds, I guess if I had read a few back entries I would have realized you are on your way back to the states. I am sad I am just finding your blog, but I am sure the adventures will only continue as you move to your new home.

Such fun to go traveling and shopping though your pictures! I used to live in London, and hunted for treasures at Portobello Market regularly.
