I like millions of others will be parked on my couch tonight to watch the opening ceremonies....I'm so excited. First of all I love London, so to have it held there and see the sites we've visited and possible sightings of my favorite Brits like.....The Royal family or Beckham or a shirtless Beckham! Plus ten years ago the Winter games were held in Salt Lake City, Utah where we lived at the time.
Ten years ago we were so lucky as locals to experience the torch runs and various free advents going on through out the city. My husband volunteered for a week on the down hill ski races. It was a high light of a skier life to be amongst such champions of a sport you love.
My Mom is a big Olympic pin trader....I had no idea...you should have seen her in action!
Buy and wear the Olympic beret
Meet a Olympian-Picabo Street
As a local the only two negatives I remember is at the time I work down town...it was impossible to drive or find parking. So public transportation was my ride and during that time I ended up catching Pneumonia....my Olympic fever....or 8 weeks of hell recovering!
Enjoy your weekend! Go Team USA!!

I'm super excited too. My hubs and I are hoping we can handle the side stories featuring little bits and pieces of London and the countryside : ) Go USA!
Having the Olympics in Atlanta kind of ruined them for me. Not so special anymore. Maybe that's why I still really like the Winter Olympics, but don't care if I watch the summer games at all. Although I have to say, I like London a lot and have been watching on tv. I think the last 3 summer locations could've had something to do with my apathy as well, the time differences made everything weird and it wasn't even close to summertime in Australia. I'm excited to see the cycling road race, which is on Saturday already. They finish in front of Buckingham Palace and go up Box Hill (a location in Jane Austen's Emma) three or 4 times. Maybe these will be the games where I get my Olympic love back!
and we have our town's beer festival beginning today!! I have told hobby dearest that I am gonna rush home to view the ceremony. Enough of beer!!! :D :D :D
Go team USA! I can't wait to watch.
As a true olympic watcher I am very jealous of your olympic experiences. Very very cool. I am sooo pumped for tonight.
I will be on my couch as well!
Me too! I can't wait to watch. I love London. I even ordered a Olympic t-shirt today!
Watching as I type. So exciting you got to have that Olympic experience in your own backyard. ENJOY the games.
pneumonia that's a type of Olympic fever I would skip. It is fun to see a place that you have been to on TV.
Wow ~ That is very cool that you all were in Salt Lake and about to watch the Olympics in person. There is something exciting about the olympics.. I love the harmony.
Happy Watching!!!
That is way cool that you got to experience some of the SLC Olympics! And I had to chuckle about your shirtless David Beckham comment.;)

I haven't been to any olympic events since they've all be so far from where i live. Though they were in L.A. in 1984 but then i was an infant.
