Knox Farm State Park is one of those, it's located right in the village...I drive by it every time I go to the grocery store.....why we never stopped it beyond me. Knox Farm is the former estate of the renowned Knox Family, it's 633 acres are now owned by NY state. This park is on the "Seven to Save" endangered properties of NY state preservation league. It looks like it's struggling to stay alive...but has a lot of beauty to offer. I think of the potential it has but Imagine the money and being it's in a tiny village outside of Buffalo doesn't have the draw like big parks.
We brought our bikes to explore this park. It was a hot morning but once we were on the trails and in the woods it was much cooler. Other than the lack of signs we had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back and hike and bike the rest of the park. It's a hidden gem that's for sure. We had the place to our selves.
Happy Sunday!

Lovely photos. My favorite is the last shot! :-)We also tend not to visit the places in our backyard - and then, one fine day when we're walking around, are quite surprised!
This is another park we haven't been to but it would be great to explore it
You had the whole park to yourself?!?! Wow! What a gift! Yesterday was the first day in a while it was cool enough (no triple digits) to ride our bikes and we took advantage of it! What kind of bike do you ride, Kathy? I'm in the marke for a new one!
Looks like you had a lovely day!
What a GREAT idea to explore places close to home. We've recently begun doing the same thing. Knox Farm State Park looks like a lovely area for recreation.
Yep! This is definitely a real gem. Glad you finally stopped and checked it out.... without mobs of people to get int he way of your bike ride :-)
I can only imagine how gorgeous it will be in the Fall.
Happy SIMC, jj

I stopped riding a bike because it hurts my hooha. ;-)
Looks like an amazing place! So funny that it's been there all this time - it looks like a real gem :)
Ooo looks really nice!
It's beautiful there! I cant believe that much time has gone by since you moved back to the U.S..I still cant believe I've been in the Netherlands for 5 years!
Parks are nice to have nearby. Also good for the wildlife.
2 years! I can not believe it, it feels you just moved there.
