Sundays In My City- Bremen

Bremen, Germany is a city filled with history and traditions. Last night we came upon one of my favorite traditions-junnggesellenabschied also known as "STAG PARTY" or "BACHELOR PARTY". It's the last night of freedom for the Groom, so his friends dress him in some kind of embarrassing costume and the parade through the city where he sells various items or shots of a liquor in order to pay for the drinking while "PARTYING".

These young men were selling shots for 1 euro! It was a nasty apricot liquor and apple. I said no drink just a picture and I will pay. Their English was much better than my German, they were all excited to talk to an American. He was dressed in a bee costume with a T-Shirt to sign and hat with curlers......Okay whackadoo German boys. They were really nice, posed for my picture and one of them told me I was an ANGEL! (Hee, hee WHATEVER!)

I gave him a piece of  marriage advice " Happy wife, Happy life"!!

Go visit UnknownMami and enjoy her city and many others. HAVE A WONDERFUL SUNDAY!

Love that quote, I heard Seal use that same quote on the Oprah show when talking about Heidi. Now that's one lady who looks happy!

Hi Frau! Greetings from Casa Hice!

Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by my humble blog, leaving a comment, and subscribing!. I am so honored! That really means the world to me, and so as any good blog friend would do, I've come to return the favor!

Looking forward to getting better acquainted and tagging along on some of your amazing adventures in Germany. Hope you'll be back to Casa Hice soon... I'll leave the door unlocked for you.

PS: The Bee Man is devastatingly handsome in his curlers. Those Germans boys sure are hunky. I bet he has a mean stinger to boot!

I'm with Ina- first thought in my head was Nj housewives reach all the way to germany channeled through my sister. Then I realized that there was NO way that crazy Theresa was the first to say that. So, I'm with meno mom now and am thinking that it is appropriate that you said that-Seal said it to a German too!
How's that?

Well this is so much more fun than the American tradition.

my very first time in bremen i saw the same thing on the steps of city hall, they made the guy in curlers and a bra clean up a million bottlecaps and run around trying to kiss virgins.

forever in my mind, germans are weird, much, much weirder than americans.

Love the tradition. I wonder if we could get grooms in the US to dress up like that. It's a hoot!

Thanks for sharing your Sunday.

That's such an interesting tradition! I'm sure he was thrilled to be a bee, although he really doesn't look so bothered!

Perfect advice! Fun for you to stumble upon this I'm sure!

What a fun tradition. Better than stuffing dollar bills in a thong I would think. Much more ingenious, don't you think?

Great advice and another one...don't wear the bee costume to bed if you expect to get any nook nook.

Fun! I was at a bachelorette party this weekend, but we didn't make the bride wear anything so silly. She sure did do a good job of earning her money, though!

Informative content, In bachelor party you can drink all night but between the beer and the strippers, wouldn't it be fun to have a few bachelor party games such as Despedida Soltero.

I grew up in Bremen!!!! So nice to see pictures of my home town! I now live in Westchester, NY, with my husband and little boy (3) and we only visit once or twice a year. I always love to come back to Bremen, it's such a perfect little city. I love the Schnoor and the Markt and everything old.

Thanks for posting this!
