Sunday in My City-Letchworth State Park

Last Sunday we drove about an hour away to Letchworth State Park....the brochure says it's the Grand Canyon of the East....not sure I'd agree especially if you have ever been to the Grand Canyon. But it was a nice drive and something different to do on a Sunday.

I think we live rurally but a mile or so from our house it really becomes rural...lots of open land, farms and wind turbines liter the sky line.....I love the view of those beauties.

 Upper Falls

Middle Falls

Lower Falls

Letchworth State Park consist of a dam and three falls, upper, middle and lower! We are in a drought like most of the country, and the water levels of the falls reflect. Last time we came here two years ago the water was raging. The part I like about the park is it's accessible for any age they have stone staircases to get everywhere.

It's a pet friendly park, as long as they are on their leashes. Sophie is a climber....so weird she loves to walk on walls, ledges, park benches.....and apparently trees!

She is not much of a reader or rule follower!

The train track above is in operation...We have never been there when one comes across...can you imagine the view from the train!
Someone was pretty tuckered out slept the whole ride home!

If you're ever in these parts it's worth the $8 entrance fee.

Happy Sunday!

That is a fun place. We drive through NY to Canada. We may have to add this to our itinerary.

I love the falls!

She might like climbing cuz of her nature. The lakeland terrier in the old days would climb rocking mountains. The stories other Lakies owners would share about their dogs climbing on counters and refrigerators are funny. Kelly never climb the counters cuz she was a princess but she would climb a tree and do a handspring to pee when she was younger. xo

I LOVE Letchworth State Park. My hubby and I hiked there years ago. I'm crazy about WaterFalls, that's why. Is the old house still there??? Your pictures were wonderful. GREAT to see those falls again. Glad you had fun.

Awwww, little Sophie is a cutie. She wore herself out big time. I love the gorgeous falls, but wind turbines are spooky to me!

It looks like a great park! So pretty - I'm just really missing greenery! Sophie cracks me up - all that fresh air and climbing tuckered her out :)

beautiful park and pics. But the name? Sounds like a place where all the letches hang!

I can't believe Sophie is such a rule breaker! I had no idea.

These shots are wonderful! Mark and I hiked there once--It was really great, and the view was stunning. I remember those steps, too. Thanks for the flashback!

Sophie is such a cute dog! She can break any rule and get away with it!
