Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. The Summer Olympics begin next week and London is playing host. If you had the chance to go in person which (non-Olympic) London site would you most like to visit?

Buckingham Palace first and watch the changing of the guards....then the Tower of London tower bridge...maybe do the London Eye and see a birds eye view of Big Ben. I love London and have been fortunate enough to have gone there now 4 times. Only problem is I've never been there and not had it be cold and rainy. We've gone in November, December and March time frame...

2. What is something in your life right now that feels like an Olympic event?
Getting Katelyn ready for college....the shopping, spending and checking things off list with a 30 days to go....it's coming all too fast.

3. What's your favorite supper to prepare and serve when it's too hot to cook?
Anything on the BBQ or a crockpot meal....or a salad with rotisserie chicken.

4. July 18th is National Get Out of the Doghouse Day...when was the last time you were 'in the doghouse'?
It's been a long time...I can't remember! Or I'm pleading the fifth!

5. What television advertisement do you find particularly irritating or inappropriate? You may not answer with 'all of them'. I know some of you were thinking about it.
Any and all the prescription drug ones that say ask your doctor if .......is right for you and then goes on to list all the horrible side effects!

6. Share one piece of interesting news from the year you were born.
January 30 – State funeral of Sir Winston Churchill takes place with the largest assembly of statesmen in the world until the 2005 funeral of Pope John Paul II.[1]
7. What's the best part of your average day?
Dinner time when we sit down together and talk about each others day....favorite time.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Katelyn's friend from Utah has been here and we played a game called Taboo it's a fun game and lots of laughs...the object of the game is you have a word to describe to your team members and there is a list of 5 words you can't say plus the word itself. I always find it funny my daughter's generation doesn't know certain catch phrases or know certain people from my era....so the word was Sticker Shock....she was like I don't even know what that means....how I described it to her was Katelyn's college tuition bill came yesterday and I was in sticker shocker....with the final bill....I think she got it!

Stop by Joyce's at From this side of the Pond for more HP fun!

Sticker shock. We know it well! You need to visit London in September or June. Normally nicer weather although rain is always possible : )

Taboo is a fun game! My dad pronounces it with his mild Italian accent with the emphasis on the second syllable and the first syllable short, so it's /t'BOO/ And it was one of the family games he often requested when we all lived in Michigan and had family games night t least once a week.

I think maybe the current generation has replace sticker shock with just "I can't afford that." :(

It is funny to see what we know about vs the next generation. My kids think all phones are cordless so when they saw one that wasn't they had no idea what it was. Taboo is fun!

Never heard of Taboo but now you have explained it to me, sounds good fun.
Good to find out a little more about you from your hoge podge.

I love the photo of you and Katelyn with Tower Bridge in the background - gorgeous shot! Good luck to all of you with getting ready for college!

Your daughter will have plenty of sticker shocks to come, like the college book store. London can be hot and muggy. I prefer cold and rainy over hot and muggy. Of course a sunny light breeze with spring flowers all around is the best. Enjoyed the tower bridge but have not been there since the eye was built.

I was there in June last year and it was cloudy and rainy. Actually I keep a widget on the weather and it looks that way daily!!! I remember those college days with my son, they were fun. With all the horrible side effects you wonder why they would advertise them! Love Taboo.

I would like to go to Buckingham Palace, and I am so with you on the prescriptions and hundreds of deadly side effects!

We had the same answer for the commercials and favorite time of the day :) Taboo is fun to play.

Is a crackpot meal the same as a crockpot meal? Or is it a tad illegal?

Will have to add Taboo to our games, sounds fun. It is funny the things that change through the generations. At a conference the other day someone had a slide presentation, and when asking about a projector, the college student said, "I think I've heard of them before but I don't really know what it is."

Hi thanks for stopping by my blog :) Running is great i didn't like it up til about 4 years ago. I couldn't run a lot when i was in southern California, the smog made it very difficult to breathe. ;/

Oh I can only image your sticker shock! LOL... I love dinner time too even though I see Gary most days throughout the day while he works in his office upstairs and me in mine downstairs. :) xo

I hate those commercials too! Makes me not want to take any drugs because it seems so dangerous!

Loved all the photos. Took me someplace, I've never been. Hubby watches the OLYMPICS. Me, not so much.

I truly love your London pics!

I thank God that I'll be too busy with my job next August to stop and bawl about Kendall leaving, but I'm sure I'll find other times. Hugs to you, my friend.

A commercial that actually pisses me off is on the radio and is for some product to help a man "be the man you used to be." Seriously, I could punch someone in the face over that one.
