Sundays In My City-My Favorites

Stop by UNKNOWNMAMI and see her beautiful City, then travel the world with her and her friends.
The weather has been getting in the way for my photo ops of my city. So I decided to show you a few of my favorite things about living in Bremen, Germany.

  1. The houses here are really unique, there are a lot of apartments, brownstone style homes, farm houses, A frame houses, modern looking homes. One of my favorite is the thatch roof homes and the eye brow windows.
  2. Protest happen everywhere I know this, but coming from Utah it is pretty rare to see. So here in Germany it's normal to have the city shut down for several hours and have a peaceful and some times not so peaceful protest/demonstration.
  3. Toilettes galore! In most places you have to pay a small amount or tip an attendant to use the toilette. The trade off is they are always stocked with TP, you will never have to ask your neighbor to spare a square! Plus they are some of the cleanest toilette around. Most restaurants if you are dining in you do not have to pay. When we were in Italy a Toilette was hard to find and when you did they were disgusting.
  4. Fountains, fountains and more fountains! I love fountains my city has quite a few and they are beautiful in their own way.
  5. Statues all over in random places, some of  importance and some not so important.
  6. Random horn tooting people in parks and street corners.
  7. Flower markets everyday but Sunday! ALL YEAR!
  8. Market of fruit, veggies, meats, cheeses and such everyday but Sunday! ALL YEAR!
Hope you enjoy some of my favorites in Bremen!
Have a wonderful Sunday!

The homes are just beautiful in germany. I love when we go on drives there because everything looks straight out of a fairy tale book sometimes. I love the window boxes with the beautiful flowers growing out of them too.

You have to pay to use the bathroom here too and I still have a hard time getting used to that!

As always I loved your photos and visiting your city! Have a wonderful day and week!!

Bremen is quite different from our cities. Your tours are always educational. It's interesting that the public rest rooms are pay as you go :)

It would be worth paying to use a toilet if it was always clean and stocked up.
Thank you for sharing Germany with me.
Blessings, andrea

i just got done reading your entire blog. i commented a tiny bit but i don't think you'll see them so i will try to remember what i wanted to say: )

i bought that orange furry hat! well, mine's blue but i got it in bremerhaven! people laugh at me but i am taking germany's cold seriously. i think little children are also afraid of that hat, so you might consider that.

i was just complaining to my man last night that all the restaurant bathrooms only have cold water in the sinks. even the airport has no warm water to wash my hands. i miss that a lot and it makes me mad cuz germany isn't a third world nation, so why do we only get cold water in bathrooms?

i miss public toilets. in seattle if you have to go but you are out and about, you just have to find a public park, it will have a free public bathroom. here, it's the bushes. and...oh, have you seen men peeing in public yet? my gosh, even on busy city streets, men feel they have a right to just pee there. business men too!

there was a protest in bremen when we were there too. i have been to bremen 3 or 4 times now, and love it. i love how it's biking town - no hills. here it would be a drudgery to ride a bike.

your list of things to bring back to germany was almost identical to mine! splenda, PB, ibuprofen, choc chips.. (but i found regular cheesy doritos recently here, woo!)

we're a long ways from a starbucks, but you got me thinking about how much i love eggnog lattes. hm, does eggnog even exist here?

our chimney sweep came again last week, i love it. this time i got a photo. don't you love their outfits?

life for me is so much easier cuz of my man. he's german, and takes care of me, so i don't have to stress about new situations.

grocery stores still stress me out, after 2 years, i don't know what my problem is, but i am afraid i'll screw up. i have so many times, with the sticker-less veggies, placing the basket on the belt (DON'T do this!), and pushy people in line behind me, breathing on me. where the frak are the express lanes at the grocery stores!

have you found your favorite maggi packets yet? i am still finding good ones. i hate to admit it, but maggi packets help me make a lot of tasty easy meals here.

thanks for posting about your move and adjustment period. it is hard. hardest thing i've ever done in my life, but i am managing.

I love visits to Bremen via your blog. :-)

It's so cool to see traditions like the horn-blowing kept alive.

Things of historical and cultural value like that seem to be disappearing rapidly elsewhere in the world.

It's nice to see that Bremen appreciates its history.

Hi Frau, I'm visiting from horsecrazyamerican and have to giggle about "small world syndrome" because when I was a kid, we had an (adult) exchange student visit us from Bremen, and Jutta and my mom still exchange letters and emails (twenty years later). I visited Germany briefly in the 1980's but didn't get to see Bremen.

Of course, my favorite thing about Bremen is the town musicians! Did you know the story about them before you moved there?

Hi Frau, I love reading the experiences of other expats, although I think I'm considered more an immigrant at this point. Anyway, looking forward to reading more and nice to meet you!

I just love the parts of 7 and 8 the most... I yearly market is what I long for. That's one thing Europe wins hands down compared to where I live in Canada... I really miss that!

New Moon was good. Have you read the books? There was a lot of shirtlessness and ab flaunting from the boys...

I worked with some great people from Bremen, very reliable and friendly. A lot of handshaking, though. And they say 'Mahlzeit' all the time.

Not sure where to post this but I wanted to ask if anyone has heard of National Clicks?

Can someone help me find it?

Overheard some co-workers talking about it all week but didn't have time to ask so I thought I would post it here to see if someone could help me out.

Seems to be getting alot of buzz right now.
